Now there is an open ended question.
I like tall over wide but there are plenty of opinions on the subject. For a fairly stock combo , a 26x8 is a good jump off point. But as you produce more power and want to launch harder a 28x9 becomes a better choice, and fits in a stock fender well on a stock wheel. As you go to wider rims, wider tires can easily be the next step.
What 60' goals do you have?

1.6, maybe a little better if I can. I run a 17x10 rim now with street tire. Was going to get a set of steel 15 rims and stuff as much tire as I could in there.

Maybe some 15x8 wheels with a 28x9 Mickey Thompson slick. You will need a drive shaft loop if you have a good track tech and it is a good idea either way.

275/60-15 is the latest trend. Little bit wider than a 28/9. 4 inch back space on the 8 inch rim

I run an air shock to get the tire off the wheel well. The 1/4's aren't rolled.
