So a F body swap how hard is it? I have always loved the TTA and drove past this its really clean. if i lose the AC can I use my ported heads? I have my beat up old T as a donor car a TTA K member and torque arm? its already fuel injected so update the pump?
Is it a pipe dream and a money pit?
-
I think it is a money pit, but what car project isn't?
I like the Regal better as it isn't like driving a gocart. And easier to get in and out of. Plus it will never have the value of a real one.
If you like it that is all that matters.
-
Exactly, if you like it buy it! That is what I tell people when ever they ask me what car they should buy. Because in the end if you don't buy the car you like you will always be regretting it. My buddy bought a nice TTA a couple years ago. He loves it. Better cornering car than the GN.

Larry...do a search on the other board for the conversion. You'll likely find it there.

You would just trade drivetrains?

I did some preliminary searches it's the heads and headers that are the big bucks...

That's kind of the plan my existing body and frame are in pretty rough shape I have a frame ready to go and a sound shell that needs some work but it's quite a bit better than what I have.
The GTA is in very good shape from what I could see.

Turbo the 8 and drive the hell out of it. probably run cooler, faster, more reliable and cheaper than a swap. :chin: :icon_lol:
How's that for blasphemy?
-
I had one Larry. I loved driving it back and forth to work on the hilly and curvy roads. I would still have it if I didn't want my limited to be faster. For that matter I would have a lot more vehicles but then I wouldn't have any place to keep them out of the weather.

From the aerodynamics of the drag, all else being equal, it should be a bit more than a tenth quicker. On the other hand, while they should handle better than our Regals, I would suggest stepping up another generation and getting one that is even more comfortable (IMO) but handles even better. I don't think any of them will be easy to work on :D
-
We are looking for 3rd Gen F-body as a dedicated track car. Much easier to work on than the 4th Gens.
Do it and have a blast.
-
I was thinking of the 98-02 models but they are basically the same as the 93-97's and would be equally hard to work on so Mike has the best advice from a workability stance. Guess I was adding a fifth generation :D

The LS1 cars are sort of Gen 4.5.
Truthfully the 4th Gens aren't that bad if you approach them with patience and a plan; small hands help too. I am pretty tossed up right now between buying a prep'd 3rd Gen race car or a C5 ZO6 as a new track toy.
