Title: Fitting New Billet Caps
Post by: Scoobum on April 03 2015, 10:34:10 AM
I mentioned on a thread awhile back that I bought a block from a guy that he kept taking the mains out of. I had a hunch that the caps weren't machined to fit the block. Aftermarket cranks and billet mains etc aren't just a drop in affair. Most require machining by a professional that knows THESE engines. Don't just hand your engine to ANY machinist.

Not my stuff...but the vids are from another TR member from the other board...and I believe it's his milling equipment.

Boy is that the truth
Im  a machinist (not automotive)sent the block out to just a local shop, and I went  through 3 sets of mains I cant find any thing wrong with this block
Lesson learned  the hard way, O did I say it was $$ too
Having a Buick builder do this next one
