broke my rear end friday night at the track. Spider gears sheared, ring and pinion still good. i was looking around the net to find some replacements to get it back on the road but from what I understand GM doesn't allow you to change them, you can for an open diff, but not a posi. so I am looking into going with the Auburn pro 30 spline and 30 spline axles. will that be enough to handle high 1.4 sixty foot?

That should do the trick. That is what I have and my car weighs in at over 4000lbs with me in it. I haven't made those short times but I will be attempting them soon.

the stock unit has a 1.49 and many 1.50s , until friday

Actually, that is what I have. My old car had the auburn.

I run an Auburn Pros Series 28 spline with Moser axles and a girdled diff.

Eaton also makes the Detroit Trutrac which seems to be very popular these days. It doesn't use clutches.

I thought the trutrac was the quiet one...does not use clutches...use s helical gears...will have to do some googling
I see quite a few reports of noisy ones along with many that are not....got me.
The Auburn Pro seems to work pretty well for most and comes with one replacement free if it goes bad if I remember correctly

Car is back up and running with some used spider gears , time to start saving for the good stuff. I have a friend that is a dealer for Moser, on their web site and other venders the axles are $260 for the set, he can get them for $199.

I've run trutracs a lot in roundy roundy cars, now granted they were in quick change rear ends that are stupid loud by themselves. They seemed quiet to me, compared to detroit lockers and any clutch type that feels like it has rocks in it.
I like them.
