Title: RJC head gasket

So I was all set to install my heads today cleaned everything laid things out cut open the tube and it's already vulcanized dated use before 2007......From what I found its GE Ultraglaze 4000 if I can't find it locally any other suggestions?

you shouldn't have waited so long to instal them.

I don't know about local but amazon has a few distributors.

I picked them up off the other board.... Not such a good deal now. I have sent Jason an email.

Ok I got another question, when I test fit the gasket it appears that there are a couple spots where the gasket creeps into the combustion chamber. the fire ring is well inside should I be concerned about a hot spot that would promote detonation or preignition?


That's where detonation starts correct? the 2 flame fronts collide one from the outside that starts spontaneously than the one from the spark plug.


Could I trim it back its laser cut stainless?
Block  only .020 overbore gaskets are said to be good to .030.


I can post pics if that's helpful its not allot inside enough that I question it.

preignition is much more damaging that detonation and I would think it would be bad to have any of the gasket protruding into the cylinder as I believe it will retain much more heat than the surround cast iron or aluminum.
