Long story as short as possible. Had to replace turbo, wanted to get some oil up there before initial start up. Unplugged the orange wire so car wouldnt start so I could crank it over for 30 seconds. Well 15 seconds in the frickin car starts?? Shut it off right away. Plugged in the orange wire and started the car, all semed okay at first but alky system started flickering the "turn on" light and it was bleeding alky into the motor. Contacted Juilo and he walked me through some tests and determined bad MAP. Replaced MAP and same problem so sent him controller. He tested it out, all okay. Rechecked MAP and getting fish readings with new one.
Question 1) how the hell did car start without orange ECM wire attached?
question 2) alky system was flawless before this, could something have gotten screwed up when car started without ecm attached.
Car runs fine with alky system turned off
Have to check tonight but must be getting a voltage spike on green wire from MAP to alky that is telling controller to turn on pump. Map gets voltage from TPS, what would cause that to exceed 5 volts?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

The way I remember it there is more than one pin on the ECM that power comes thru.
The orange wire is a "hotwire" that never gets disconnected so the BL tables stay populated.
Other sources come on with the key.

I have a kill switch that opens IIRC the IGN-ECM fuse.

Is the shielding on the cable from the pump to the controller properly grounded?
-
Ran a seperate ground to the map and eliminated the ground that was from the tps and BINGO! Works great, new turbo spools as quick as stock one did but now new issue. The tranny hangs at the shifts and it looses boost, drops from 23 to 18ish, then it shifts and boost comes back. Can I adjust this out with the cable on the throttle to tranny. Shifted great before.
-
If you let your foot off the loud pedal slightly...doe s it shift? If so...then the TV cable is out of adjustment. Is boost creeping in high (3rd) gear? Did a search...and the answer to your boost issue was to port the wastegate hole.
-
this is one of those cases where PL is invaluable. I am thinking like Brad at the moment altho I did not have any ehs in the process...did have a couple of uhs, tho
-
Not concerened with boost drop. Its the hanging shift. I adjusted tv cable per steves site. Will test tommorrow. Main question was would tv adjustment get it to shift correctly? Correct shift will correct boost issue I think
-
Or fixing the boost problem might cure the shift problem?
-
I suppose so :icon_lol:

Tested and it shifts great again. I do lose about 3 LBS of boost at the shift but it jumps right back. Now just need to dial it in with the chip.
If I port the wastegate hole how much overlap do I want to leave?
Thanks guys!!

Leave a Minimum of 1/8" but to be safe I leave closer to a 1/4" Go slow because smaller can be opened but too Big & it's officially a huge PITA!
-
if the boost is not creeping up in third gear, I don't think it needs porting.
Should not be dropping on the boost by that much if the car is shifting quickly unless maybe the car is too rich-make sure there is no timing retard at the top of the gear, or, on the shift
-
NO tuning done yet. looking this morning with chip on defaults SM showed 0 knock and 824 O2.
Very rich so maybe thats the culprit. I adjusted the chip to the aggressive 1st gear timing setting of 129, and set fueling in 1/2 and 3/4 to the 126 setting. Will do some testing on the way home to see where that puts my readings.
-
At what RPM in 3rd gear did you see 824?
-
The SM actually said that was at 21 MPH??
-
Believe that was the leanest it saw. You have to watch it while you are getting on it. Start by making sure the FP is correct

We could be a lot more helpful if we had a PL file.

for sure

Sorry, dont got the PL :icon_confused: Only had time to make one test run last night. Still real rich down low. Also kinda sluggish on the shift again, probably gonna pull the tv cable out one notch and see if that cures it.
