I am waiting to see pricing on these because I'd be willing to trade the Buick in for it. Seriously 10.8s with just a tire swap? Unreal.
-
At heart I have always been a Mopar guy. That's about all I owned until I was about 20 & then I went thru a bike phase & then I started driving the Big Olds 98's & 88's until I found the GN. I still had a 98 as my daily driver.
-
Also looking at a new 1LE Camaro, the price could be right with the right trade in value.
-
Get your stopwatch out...and you'll get 11.8 every time. A few things to note. Why wasn't the camera set up behind the cars...so you could see the run from start to finish...and see the time come up on the board. Watch the launch...one of the softest I've ever seen. And lastly...watch the car go down the track...and through the traps. Does that look like 126 mph to you?
-
Brad I can't see the video link? Guess my pop up blocker is killing it? Can you post it here? Thanks!

Cool vid. I was getting 12 sec when timing it, but if you look at the seconds from start to finish on the video it is around the 10 second mark.
-
I like that old school one running mid 13's!! Nice

Takes awhile to load...at least on my laptop.

Bring the video up to full screen. Stop the vid just as the old skool Challenger finishes its burnout. At the bottom of the screen it says, "Do not attempt. Professional drivers on a closed course." I'm betting the vid we're seeing is with those two guys...and not the pro drivers. Dollars to donuts it took a whole whack of passes to pull a 10.8...and there woulda been all kinds of Chrysler execs and engineers etc there.
At frame 3:03 the old skool Challenger is on the back bumper of the new Challenger...a nd a couple frames later...he's a half track behind.
-
Just saw the car at Chrysler's at Carlisle (PA) It's an awesome looking piece. It looks like any other Challenger except for "Supercharged" on the side. The advertised numbers are impressive. Guesstimate price is mid 70K, limited production, and the rest is yet to be seen. Talking to the fat show guy in charge of the car is my latest info. He fired it up Sunday while we were getting registered to test drive the Durango RT they had there. Sounded awesome, took a quick vid with my digital camera. I'll try to post it here, otherwise it's on my FB page. So, I'm talking to the fat show guy. I ask him what's it run. Like was said earlier, low11's on street tires, 10.8x on drag radials. And I'm thinking, our last time slip on the GN was an 11.17. My shit-for-brains pulls a low 11 out of a friggin 6 and this is the best a production car can do with a supercharger, engineers, large pockets, and unlimited resources? And I know it's more than that, but really, with today's technology, gearing, and so on it should be a walk in the park.
-
And don't forget the 13 speed split shifter too! :icon_lol:
-
how many years is it guaranteed?

1000lbs and being fully emissions compliant makes a huge difference - just wait until they crack this thing open the same way you did with your little V6.
Case in point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_cQfBMmm34 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_cQfBMmm34)
There is just so much more potential in late-model cars and trucks.

Brad, it is a commercial.
Buick guys should be appropriately scared.
-
You...me...and the next door neighbours dog all know it's a hokey commercial. The guy with too much money...doesn't...and he's gonna head to his nearest track...and promptly get his butt handed to him. I see it happen all the time. As far as the Mustang is concerned...fa ctor in the initial cost for the car...and the boatloads of money thrown at it to get it to run that hard. The cost is beyond the means of 99% of the population.

I could be "that guy", ya know?
Do you think I can handle it or am I just going to end up disappointed? :chin:
The reality is that with a professional driver it will run 11.2s all day off the showroom floor and 10.8s on a tire - everybody else will just have a larger penis at the local car show.
-
I'm gettin' old...but did you not mention some time ago your dream car was a Porsche?
-
If you can afford the car then another $10K in basic mods (like we do with the Buicks) would make it Scream!! :O
A new GN in 87 by todays Dollar was probably close to $50K & lot's of guys started to mod them within the 1st year.
So $75K with all the new technology is really not that expensive. I'm not saying I could just go write a cheque for one but the people who can will have quick cars that out handle our GN's & still have the benefit of air bags etc.
It's good to see Dodge-Ford-GM putting out performance cars no matter who buys them!
-
The car is officially priced at an accessible $59.9K US. Damn.
-

The dream toy is indeed a 72-87 911; and I am still working on that plan. We are talking about a high horsepower creature comfort packed daily driven toy here.
-

Wow! I think some further investigation is needed!! :chin:
-
No way your getting it for $59K, once the dealer marks it up. That is like saying you could buy the GNX for list price. Any limited number car like that will have a major mark up, just like the Z28.
-
Dave, I raced against a fellow from Eastern Chrysler. He has a HellCat on order. This guy also owns a Superbird and a few other nice cars. Only 50 HellCat's will be for sale in Canada.
-
with only 50 in Canada I think it's going to be closer to $100K than $60K which is too rich for me.
-
This is a nice color!

The good news is:
HRM: Will there be a future for the Hellcat? Is it a limited production car?
TK: This one I love, because I’m so pissed about this. Someone wrote an article and said, ‘F Dodge, they built this awesome car but they are only gonna build 1200 of them and I’ll never be able to get one,’ Bullshit. We never said that! I don’t know where the guy got that information. The Hellcat is not limited production. We’ll see what the demand is, but definitely not limited to 1200.

I noticed at a dealership in Ohio there was a sign that read MOPAR is Coming Back Soon so I guess the dealers are getting ready to start taking orders soon.

-
On an on what is does in the 1/4...but didn't go to the track.
-
Why they need to go to the track again & again has no bearing on the fact it's a 700+ HP car right from the showroom.
It's quick, safe, has Cold AC, good stereo, air bags, 8 speed auto with 3 settings etc. etc. It will most likely kick the Snot out of most street cars & many of the "weekend warrior" drag cars that run 11's on $20K mods like our Bricks do. Plus, I will also bet that it will kick ass on a road course against the said "track cars". Then when some guys get the urge to form a business making them 9 sec cars for street/strip what more do you want??
Don't be a Hater because it's a MOPAR! :player:
I Love my Buick & have had it since 88 but when I see a Nice Car I don't care if it's a Mopar, GM, Audi, Porsche etc, they all deserve recognition no matter what your personal taste is or future usage may be?
-
I don't knock the car I knock the way they advertise it. It was like when they started putting Hemi's in the trucks. I thought they were the most annoying commercials out there. That being said, they did do a nice job on the Challenger. And a little competition can only help with some of the new offerings that GM and Ford will have. Here's to competition!
-
Don't get me wrong...it's a nice looking car. If Leno had any balls...as soon as that Chrysler exec said it does 10.3 with slicks...Leno should have said let's go grab a set and give it a whirl. You can bet Leno got a piss pot full of cash to promote the car...or was given one. I'm with Forzfed on the promoting. If they're gonna shoot their mouth off it does a certain ET...then prove it with a REAL video.
-
I agree the commercial was Typical Car BS plus they forgot to add a few Chicks in Underwear laying on the hood! :player:

I agree but Leno is just a TV host. Now a semi-pro driver would be interesting?
The thing is that no matter who does it you either like it or hate it whether it runs the number or not.
I grew up on Mopars & if I had $100k burning a hole in my pocket I would buy one. Altho I don't see myself having $100K in my piggy bank this week! :013:
-
Again...the car looks mean. Remember...tha t's flywheel HP...not WHP...and it weighs a ton. What I love about these new cars is a lot of people believe the hype...and buy one. They show up at the track thinking they have a world beater...and promptly get their asses handed to them. I go to great lengths playing with backspacing with the stock rims for different size slicks...just to head fake these guys. And I never run the 1/4 mile when practising. I let my foot out of it at the 1/8th...and coast. The 1/8th mile doesn't show on the board...so they have no clue as to what's about to happen to them. The look on their faces...is priceless.

My idea for a new TV series: Breaking Brad.
Sorry buddy it seems that regular people are going to do just fine with a Hellcat equipped SRT Challenger.

-
That car is an "Awesome off the Showroom Floor Street Monster" with a quiet ride to boot!
I'll bet that within the year of 2015 that someone has a kit to get it into the Low 10's on some Drag Radials!
Silly that they didn't put at least a roll bar in it at the factory but I'll bet that another part of the "upgrade package" will include that or a cage. Nice street car if you have the $$$
-
The Challenger is bigger and heavier than its competitors but it is very comfortable to go down the road in. You don't feel trapped inside like the Camaro or Mustang. Weight works against it but I think it is over all a much better car. I have been thinking of selling my Camaro and buying an R/T from around 2012 with a manual tranny just because I don't deal with traffic out here and I miss shifting gears.
There was a turbo'd Drag Pak Challenger running in the low fives in a nearby 1/8 mile track. Certainly not streetable, but it was damn sure impressive by all accounts

Need four doors?

Live streaming the release...
They just said that it is NHRA certified on street tires at 11.0 and has a top speed of 204mph (longer is better)!
-
That engine pic of all the parts is pretty cool! 4 doors aren't for me but it's a great option for a young family.
-
My son has been trying convince me I need a Charger but.....I like the Challenger better
-
I'm thinking that I like the 4 doors.
-
I'm thinking that I like the 4 doors.
I remember when I was about 10 or 11 & my cousin got a new Challenger that was either a 70 or 71 paint was Orange White inside but no Hemi.
Still was a great car to ride shotgun in!!
Meant to post this in Steve's answer

empties the fuel tank in 13 minutes of wot?
