I have the updated SM for Power Logger & noticed a couple things. It's in stock configuration for boost control.
When SM is in boost setting I don't remember seeing it show Vacuum?? It will go from -14 to +3-4lbs Boost while standing on the brakes & trying to build some RPM Thing is it's not doing the same exact reading every time?
It's very weird right now. Most times in idle or 2K rpm it's showing 2-3 lbs boost on SM?
Any ideas?? Should SM be reading Vac at idle?? I don't recall it doing that? Maybe I'm just a little frustrated?? :013:
I tried it Tuner style & I have a ball & spring controller but I have to go back out & write down exactly what happened.
At one time it was puffing oil but I think the ball & spring was plugged up so I'm heading back out to start fresh.
Checked PCV & it seems fine.

yes, it should read vacuum as well as boost. Compare the readings between Pl on your laptop and on SM at the same time

Thanks Steve my memory is failing me!!
Anyways, I found a small Vac leak that made it act weird. It now reads rock solid with my Mech Vac Guage at idle & when trying to build some boost in the parking lot. I have it tuner style & am heading out for a ride. If all is good I will throw on the ball & spring controller. I still have the stock unit plugged in to keep the engine light off.
I would really like to have the stock dash boost lights work with the ball & spring when I know everything is 100% good.

I went out to start the car & again I see boost at idle? I wiggle the plug to the stock boost solenoid & I get a nice steady Vac reading & it was fine for my short cruise. Even when SM acted up in boost the PL read correct so I may have a flaky connection
(at the stock solenoid) but for now it's all good.
I know someone posted on the other board years ago about the ball & spring used with the stock solenoid for the dash lights so I'm going to take a look for it as the Dash lights are easy to read compared to that small gauge.
I'm now using glasses for all my reading & I never needed them until a couple years ago so the Lights are nice for me.

the boost solenoid should not enter the picture. ??
One of my cars will sometimes read about five inches less of vacuum on the SM than it does on the PL...Bob could never give me a reason-but it always read vacuum

I'm just guessing the solenoid was involved because after a wiggle on the wire it was correct again? Maybe just a Fluke & it will come back next time I start it! I guess as long as PL is correct I'm good but stuff like that Bugs the heck out of me!

don't see any connection between the two but who knows? :) given the pl seems right, I am guessing it is in the sm or analog block connections, but I never figured mine out

Stay rock steady Tuner style so I think the Vac hose was still leaking some. I cut off 1/2" & put the zip tie back on & SM & PL read the same as my gauge so the ball & spring are next.
