Title: Last Nites track Pics
Post by: Scoobum on July 05 2014, 09:07:01 AM
Few pics from last nites fun. I put the Mustang on the trailer with a quicker 521 RT time against his 665. I went 7.20 on a 1.61 short time in the 1/8th...equates to about 11.2. Mike with the 2002 Camaro went 10.3 and Steve with the Hayabusa popped a rad...and we had to do a world record rad change thrash to get him up and running. Enjoy the pics guys.

97.3 mph. Weird weather last nite. At 5pm my weather station was showing 84 degrees F and 82 percent humidity. The wind whipped up...and within 30 minutes the temp dropped to 70 degrees and with 53 percent humidity.

That's good mph!  I ran a best of 7.3@94mph in the 1/8 with my car although it was popping like man.  Should have all the bugs worked out this year and hope to make a clean pass.  Then I can add some timing to it.

How does the new motor compare with the old one?

Here's both schedules. Mix N Match is cool...cuz you can take a passenger.

We made several changes...just not the engine. I took Steves advice...as I didn't know what cam to go with. He recommended the 212/212...and it's complimented the revamped heads that Joe did. I swapped out the 70/30's in favour of 90/10's. In the rear I went with QA1 adustables...a s the 50/50's were letting it squat too much on launch. Erics 110 race chip with the extra timing is helping things out as well...and the FMIC is keeping the car consistent. Joe also went with 140 lb valve springs...as the 980's and 981's just can't cut the mustard.

Your car seems to be running really good, keep up the good work!   I might get the 6466 next year.  I know you were mentioning that, are you still thinking of getting it?

It WAS running really well...but I cracked a cylinder last weekend...agai n. I had a sleeve put in this block last fall...for the same reason. This engine had very few passes on it...and I've never seen a cylinder so beat to shit in my life...so quickly. There's a crack on one side...and on the other side the cylinder has collapsed in. No worries as I have a std/std balanced short block that I'm currently bolting everything too. Likely will have it up and running by Sunday afternoon.

To move up to the 6466...this is what I'd need:

6466
83 lb injectors...cu z the 60's I run would likely be all in with race gas.
Larger fuel pump...and possibly a larger return line.
Looser convertor
New chip

From what I've seen this year I should be able to run 6.90 all day at 25 PSI with what I already have. Quick enuf for me for bracket and grudge racing.

That sucks the same block came apart twice on you.  Any ideas why it did it again?

I honestly don't know. I picked up a std block from Channer...and I'm having it bored/honed to fit the rotating assembly from the damaged block...and have it on standby. I'll post a couple of pics of the cylinder tomorrow nite.
