Title: Cam Question
Post by: Scoobum on May 08 2014, 07:31:46 PM
Current engine in my GN was tampered with and it might be junk. My backup engine is a 109 short block that was freshened from my builder. It's STD/STD. Heads I have for it are TA SI's that were ported by Nick Micale. Intake is a stock appearing Champion with a 6262 and a 16930. This engine will be run with 110 at 25 plus PSI. I'm ordering a roller cam from FT. What cam do you guys recommend? Car is strictly tracked...so I don't care about driveability.

In all honesty I wouldn't use a shelf-grind cam from a vendor - in many cases they are very old tech (using older lobe designs).  I would do some research (duration, lift, LCA etc) and see if you can't have Comp or Cam Motion or another manufacturer produce something that meets the needs of a very specific combination of parts like yours.

Then dive into something like this: http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Catalogs/LC2007/2013LobeCatalog.pdf (http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Catalogs/LC2007/2013LobeCatalog.pdf)

Thanks for your input Mike. I`m gonna go with the 210 215 kit from FT. It`ll work fine for all I wanna do.

I can't believe someone would do that, that is low!  Are you insured for this?  That is one reason I have a locking gas cap on mine.  Hope everything works out for you.
