Title: snowy south
Post by: daveismissing on February 12 2014, 08:38:37 PM
QOTD:
Imagine you are a newborn baby. Even keeping your head up is hard; it's so heavy. You use your neck muscles the best you can and as your head bobs around your eyes have trouble focusing on images around you. You look toward sources of light and pictures that are high contrast.
Now someone puts a loaded handgun into your hands.
That's snow in the south.

We'd be better off with babies behind the wheel.  At least they don't know to crash on purpose.

It's utterly befuddling just how people forget how to drive just be cause it's cold.   With ZERO snow on the roads and ZERO ice, people are flying off the road and getting killed left and right.    With available traction the same as a light rain with no puddling and EXCELLENT visibility.

Weeding out the unroadworthy as far as I'm concerned.  At least the idiots in Atlanta stayed home this time.   A couple weeks ago it was a straight up clusterfuck caused by the gobment...    and they didn't even figure out they did it after it was over!

Hasn't really started here yet. They cancelled school today but they were only scheduled for half day......teach er's drinking day or something. You'd think living up north people around here would get the hang of it driving on snow and ice. 90% do but the 10% can cause a lot of wrecks. I drive 110 miles back and forth to work everyday so I see my share of asshats.....
....snowblower is ready to go.....waiting ....patiently. ...

Let's not forget that Canada is not without its dumbshittery on the roads when the weather turns less than perfect.

It is funny watching recent immigrants from warm climates try to negotiate snow and ice - some are paralyzed with fear, others are too stupid to understand the reduction in friction/traction.

The folks from Quebec don't even break stride when the snow falls... ignorance is bliss I suspose?

I like to do the speed limit in any condition.  I also have good winter tires and I've grew up North of the '56 parallel.  I use to drive through a foot or more of snow and miles and miles of black ice.  Over 1000 km to get to Winnipeg.  I love driving in this weather!  What makes me mad is the retards that are doing 10mph, seriously if you can't drive STAY HOME!!!

It's a pain negotiating with other drivers around here.  It takes FOREVER to turn left when you have people running 40, people running 50 and people running 10.  It's like playing a video game.

A couple days ago it was 'horrible' conditions (wet and 12 degrees ABOVE freezing).  I was running 60 and a 'safe' driver pulls out in front of me, decided 27 is a good velocity and hits the brakes hard about every 1/8 mile. I guess they kept seeing 'phantom colds' and had to avoid them.

Normally in GA we only get one day of this one time per year.   For some reason Al Gore has ordered it to happen three times.

I know what you mean.  It's like the slow traffic keep right doesn't apply anymore! :013:   That is the worst when turtle man decides to cut off another person that is going much faster.  It's like my friend's Asian grandfather told me, he has never been in an accident but has seen lots in his rear view mirror.

It should be OK now. ATL is 60 miles north of me and got hammered about 4 times as hard.   At least this time everybody knew to stay the hell home up there.

That's what it looks like in GA now....
