Title: Precision TA52
Post by: trashmechlv on February 01 2014, 06:29:17 PM
Any opinions on it? Reason I ask is a local guy wants to downsize from TA52 to something like my turbo TE44. Would it be worth the trade for room to grow?

Without ported irons, I wouldn't be bothered.

Your converter might be a little tight...otherw ise it will work a bit better

Thanks, i was wondering if I had enough converter. Now I can hit 3 grand on the brakes without turning the tires. Tough choice since my TE44 spools like a champ.

If your car is running correctly, that is too high a stall for a TE44 as it should be blowing the tires away.  A 44 should give you all the power the tires can handle around 2600-2800 rpm so you are just giving away some of the power band.  IF the car is running correctly, 3000 should work with a 52-might need a little more timing in first/second and a little less fuel in first/second for optimization but you will not know that until it is on the car-

Wanna trade for a T63E (w/4" inlet pipe & filter) plus cash for your set up? PM me if interested. ;)

I miss my old TE-44, fun turbo!  I'm thinking of buying a PTE 6466 to replace the CPT-66 to regain some of that fun factor.

If the TA52 is in good shape Im going to swap with him. He has a stock stall in his car so the TE44 will be better for him. Motorhead that seems like to much turbo for me.  :)

You need a 3300-3500 to spool the 6466...and it only comes in a BB version...cost is prohibitive. If I can pawn off my CEA 6262 to one of the locals...then I'm going the 6466 route.

You don't think my 4.1 with a 3200 stall would make it spool well?

With a 4.1...yes. I'd verify with Dusty Bradford on the other board before shelling out the cash tho. I talked to Patrick Rubio about what I needed for my 6262...and he got it dead on. Patrick isn't with Precision anymore...so your best bet is Dusty...he won't steer you wrong.
