hi all ok heres the problem
I changed valve cover gskets vacuum lines
put it all together no problems so I thought
fire it up idles good vacuum steady at 15 inches
heres the problem
no matter where the throttle is placed it only idles or stalls
what am I missing here
thanks

Is your MAF plugged up? FPR getting a good vac signal? Spark plug wires on correctly?
-
well I tried it with an without the maf no difference
wires on correctly checked twice
theres vac at the fpr
any more ideas?
-
is the tps reading properly on the scanmaster when you open the throttle?
-
yes goes up an down when peddle pushed
-
scanmastre readings
cold af 7 warm af 6
lb 54 lb 48
bat 13.5 bat 13.5
int 128 int 125
bl 128 bl 117
cle 146 cle 168
ats 60 ats 75
rpm 825 rpm 800-900
tps 44 tps 44
iac 54 iac 91

what are the o2s at idle warmed up?
If this is in Park, your iac's are way off but i would not think that is the current issue
Is the pcv line connected and is it in the intake?
What is lb above in your readings?
-
yes pcv still in stock location an hooked up
yes in park put in drive can only idle or will stall
lb im not sure what that stands for it comes in like that on the scanmaster.
can I just unplug the iac tps mass an try it that way??
any ideas
its a tt chip
worked fine before I fixed all the vac leaks an oil leaks grrrr
what did I do now
-
must be l8 for lv8
What are the O2s warm?
Do the maf numbers change when you try to increase the rpm ? What do the O2s do when you ease down a bit on the throttle?
Don't see any need to disconnect anything.
Did you double check the wires-I have messed them up more times than I can count even tho I took care to get them right
-
As coincidences always bite me in the butt, make sure the fuel pressure is where it should be
-
I triple checked the wires idles too good for them to be off
starts great.
ill let ya know about the rest bit ofa storm here now
-
fuel press line off 42 line on 40
-
guess i would start by trying to find out why there is such a small fp difference as it should be down in the thirties with the hose connected. Sounds like you have a pretty good leak somewhere
What are the O2s, idling warm?
-
What do the MAF number do with KOEO while pushing the gas pedal? Do they go up or stay static?

I was sorta thinking this too, Did you take the intercooler off during these repairs? I've had my intercooler hoses pop off and the car doesn't like it at all. Listen to Steve and Earl...they know their shit...
-
earl engine off key on af stays at zero.
steve scanmaster reading idle in park temp 700 o2s 644 300 644 437 640
wideband aem reads14.5 14.7. 15.3 14.1
idle steady 800 825
-
fuel press line off 42 line on 32
-
The maf should be reading something with the key on, engine off-think 3 is the normal number
O2s look low but that is probably because the sensor is not as hot as it would be if the car has been driven. I would start by trying to get the maf to read
-
woops your right steve engine off key on af is 4
-
In theory, nothing is wrong with your car, then! It must have hellacious vacuum if it drops from 42 to 32 when you plug the hose in....that seems a bit much, but? Okay, what does the fuel pressure do when you open the throttle?
-
the fuel press doesn't change
weather its a lil opened or wide open just have to move it slowly or it stalls
-
It really should not...
but for sure, it drops ten psi when you connect the hose?
have you tried spraying all the metal lines and hoses with an unlit propane torch or carb cleaner to see if the idle changes suddenly?
-
ill recheck that in the am
I haven't sprayed anything n the lines yet
thinking maybe bypass the intercooler an see if that's the problem?
-
that should not be necessary, but be sure the hoses are all tight and that the hose or pipe from the maf to the turbo inlet is not pulling away from the turbo when you give it a little gas. Twice I have seen cars that this was a problem on and the car would fall on its face when the gas was touched....the y don't run right with unmetered air going into the engine...
Of course, I have also seen a leak around the egr base do the same thing...:D
-
the fuel pressure rises exactly 8 lbs when line removed amazing what happens when ya switch gauges
so on to the response problem
what I did was put the mass air on the throttle body itself to eliminate the intercool an piping
an what do you know runs like a champ
so I guess its time to look at the clamps pipes an intercooler
-
ok problem found!!!!!!
someone stuffed a rag in the inlet pipe which theturbo was munching on...... this person shall remain nameless..
anyways its all goodnow...
-
LOL...you used good troubleshootin g analysis to find it!
-
ya eh too many beers in a unheated garage in the -numbers lolall good now
thanks for all the advice

Scanmaster cant help with that problem :O
-
actually, the maf readings should give a hint that either the flow is restricted or there is a major leak after the maf...up to you to figure out which
