Title: my latest mod
Post by: larrym on November 01 2013, 01:46:46 PM
I have coveted this set up since the first day I heard of it, TR6 Module with 2010 LS coils cost me $50.00 at the bone yard for the coils module was $500.00. Plug and play hardest part is mounting the coils the bracket is home made but hidden once the coils are on. Gapped the plugs at .040 purrs like a kitten, lean cruise on the extender chip has lost its stumble. No more waste spark whooo hoooo.

just installed mine on the 86 ,
not a fan of the box in stock location  (its not potted against vibration).  i put the 6 pack coil on the stock bracket and put the ign module where the cruise servo was so its easy to get to the dip switches in the pits
on a couple installs on ac deleted cars i put the ignition module box behind the glove box in the dash

as soon as i get around to it i want to switch it over to ls style coils

oh and you need to be careful on your installs with that braided line for the fuel gauge and the exposed post on back of the alternator

For kicks I thought I would check my cam sensor timing with the TR6 apparently it was retarded almost 20 degrees......
I thought I knew how to set it with the volt meter lol dialed it back to the specs in the instructions seems to run even better than before!

20* is a buttload.   It might not be a bad idea to set up a dial and a mag base to check your timing mark relative to the hub.

I did put it diagnostic mode and checked the base timing with a light a couple months back it was bang on.
