I was in bg and sold a cam sensor to dennis kirban. it was from a running hot air (same pn as ic'd cars). The gear, cap, and shaft all appeared to be fine. no gashes and spun ok.
I think I sold it for $15.
he came back later and said it wasnt rebuildable. I said ok and I will give him a full refund no problem. I was pretty busy and didnt have time to ask him about it. he said no big deal and dont worry about it and he can still use the cap.
so what made it no good to rebuild?
-
At $15 with a good cap, there's no way it wasn't usable. There's no way I would have let it go for that. For that little cheeze I'd rather have a tested working spare cap.
-
I still have 2 or three spares. I only have one tb now. dont need all these extra parts.
there was several people probably scratching their heads walking away with the deals they got from me.
I even had a free pile and gave away a bunch of stuff.
I need to make room upstairs in the garage. I'm gonna put a couple rooms up there.

The only thing that might not be re-build-able would be if the tab on the shaft broke.
-
and that can be fixed using the repair kit that Jason sells as far as I know

A cheap source of replacement gears and sensor caps would help. Dunno how one can even get a Tomco one.
-
So then it was fine, as I figured.
I had second guessed myself being how long he's been into these cars and how much knowledge he has on them.
-
Dennis has never been reputed to know anything about the cars...he sells parts. Lotsa guys don't know cars but are in the car business, nothing wrong with that
-
all the more reason I'm thankful theres guys like you, Steve.
and for the record he was very nice and friendly. It was nice meeting him.
He bought a few other misc things from me.
I got a kick outta selling him back one of those little plastic diagnostic covers that I had got from him a few years back that came with the body bushing kits he sold.
-
I have heard he was a nice guy :)

Dennis is a very nice guy and has sent me info as well as some tasty Kakes one year for Christmas. He knows what to look for on a complete car but as far as individual parts I don't know.
