Pulled the plugs out the car today and the ceramic below the electrode was orange any ideas why? plugs looked okay did a compression chk also number 3 cyl was at 125 psi the others were 135 -130 the plugs got me stumped?

You been putting octane booster in the tank? Which is a waste of money btw :)
-
actually been using race fuel leaded stuff
-
the it is an additive in the gas...old age is getting to me but it is something like MMT or such...turns the plugs red
-
Steve, If your chip/tuned for, say... 91 ocatane, and your highest octane option at a out of town gas stop is 89. Might a true octane booster put you back (or close) in the safe zone for boost?
I don't know, is why I'm asking.
-
Nope.... octane boosters typically increase octane about 1/3 of a point...so 89.333
with a modern chip reduce the timing a couple of degrees would be the better idea

dang it!
