Ford will produce an extra 40,000 units by idling select plants for only one week during what has been the traditional two-week summer shutdown.

Ford Motor Company will add an additional 200,000 units of annual straight-time capacity this year.

Ford didn't go to the Govt asking for that $5.9B low interest loan. The Govt went to Ford requesting they invest in more fuel efficient technology with the $$$. Ford wasn't in financial trouble at the time and never sought protection from creditors.

And if I remember correctly a credit line of 10 bil at that time too?
I could be wrong but I thought that was taxpayers money?
