Ok guys, had my AC switched over to 134 some years ago. I also had a new compresssor installed. The AC only worked for about a week. NOW, the people I had charge my system put about 6 cans of freon in the car. They claimed to have found NO leaks. This was about 3-4 years ago. Since then, I have installed a new resistor thingy for the blower for my digital dash. I plan to take the car up to a professional place to have the AC system fixed. Should I do anything else before I take it up there?
-
It takes less than four cans to fill a completely empty system so I think I would find a place that knew what they were doing.
-
Lol. Car was down in the country when that happened. Diff times now. Im taking it to a place that know what their doing.
-
anytime I have the system open I throw in a new orifice tube.
those seem to always collect alot of crap
-
Did the guys run a vacuum to get rid of any left over R12?
-
I don't recall running any vacuum at all. It wasn't working when got the car. My dad thought it'd be best to switch it over. I was young then and wasn't into the buick board like I am now. No to the orifice tube as well. What's the avg cost of getting the AC up and running(recharge system?)

It depends on the shop, honest, quality, thieves, lazy, short cuts.
i had the ac in my 01 GTP done, new condenser, orifice, and new something else, the system was flushed, vacuumed at -29.9 for a few hours and then recharged this thing was TOO cold. black car 5 people in it 95* and sunny outside i would have to have it on low or we would need sweaters. And the guy isn't an AC specialist. i think i paid $175.00 for the flush, vac and recharge.

the old AC stuff and new AC stuff are not compatible.
when i convert my GN.
1-New filters, orifice and that other "thing".
2-A good flush
3-Deep vac.
4-The same guy that did my GTP.
HMM AC or take the T-Tops off?? Both

Damn!! That sounds like an awesome guy. I know for a fact that nothing got flushed. Idk what an orifice looks like OR where it goes, but I doubt tht got done as previously stated. Wearing sweaters due to the AC sounds off the chain. Lol
