Five-time series champion Jimmie Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet SS, won the 55th running of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday. It also marked the first victory for the recently introduced Chevrolet SS, which was making its NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut.
Johnson finished 0.129 seconds ahead of teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr. (No. 88 National Guard Chevrolet SS). It’s the third time in the last four years that Earnhardt Jr. has been the Daytona 500 runner-up. Ryan Newman (fifth, No. 39 Quicken Loans Chevrolet SS), Regan Smith (seventh, No. 51 Phoenix Construction Chevrolet), pole-sitter Danica Patrick (eighth, No. 10 GoDaddy Chevrolet SS) and J.J. Yeley (10th, No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet SS) also finished in the top 10 for Team Chevy.

One of the few races I watch along with Darlington. I don't get why Patrick didn't jump down low in front of Johnson when she had the chance? He would have pushed her to the end & she probably would have had a top 3 finish. Either way it was a good race & I'm happy she made a top ten finish.

She looked completely befuddled on that last lap. Shame
-
I agree 100% She wasn't ready for the last big push!
-
Every time they race at Daytona, there are about 40 people that look lost on the last lap and about three that pick the right spot to be in....it has happened to the best.
-
I can't understand all the critisism she's getting..
Rookie driver - finished in the top ten.
Pretty fucking cool, in my opinion.

Rookie that did well!
Maybe the crew chief is also responsible for Lack of Direction at the end?
No matter, the girl can drive!!

Something like the last 13 races, the pole sitter average finish was around 19th. You don't just drop in front of someone going five mph faster than you at near 200 mph. Recipe for major disaster. You have to have a couple of partners and a lot of anticipation. I think luck is in there, too.
She did damned well

I doubt she will ever win a super speedway race - no one wins without a teammate/friend pushing you.

She did well...but needs a big set of fake boobs and have her drivers suit unzipped showing some cleavage for her interviews.
