ok put th enew motor in turns over no start
have fuel 40 psi
coil pack an module test ok (according to caspers tester?
when i lay a plug on valve cover an turn it over no spark?
what should i look at now?
thanks

same thing for the last 25 years :)
No start - no spark, has injector pulse - Check the ignition module (also check the CCCI and ECM-IGN fuses)
No start - has spark, no injector pulse - Cam Sensor or ECM
No start - no spark or injector pulse - Crank sensor or module
So....do you have injector pulse?
-
spent a day trying to help someone figure out a no start recently....on ly to find out the orange memory wire was not connected.....
-
nope had that connected first thing i looked at
im thinking cam sensor
-
does that fit this pattern?
No start - no spark, has injector pulse - Check the ignition module (also check the CCCI and ECM-IGN fuses)
No start - has spark, no injector pulse - Cam Sensor or ECM
No start - no spark or injector pulse - Crank sensor or module
So....do you have injector pulse?

ok fuses are ok
ecm works on the other gn so i assume its good
i dont have a noid lite so inj is ??
the module was checked with the caspers tool it seemed good
gonna redoe the cam sensor somehow i think that may be the problem
-
But you have no spark...
-
Noid lights are cheap and also be loaned out by the big box parts stores like Autozone or Advance. Did you connect the injector harness in back of the intake manifold/firewall?
-
Crank sensor in the right slot ??
-
that is my first guess...second would be a bent pin on the module connector or ecm connector.
When you have no spark, you can eliminate the cam sensor for that problem...just trying to get him to read and think :)

I got a set of Noid Lites from Princess Auto for $20 & have never used but you can borrow them if needed? I got a feeling something isn't plugged in because we have all made that mistake at some point. Usually when your rushing or you just work on it an hour here & there & overlook something. Start with the fuse block & keep on going thru all the connectors.
Good Luck!
If you do need the noid lites I'm flexible during the day & could meet you somewhere central.

Might not be a bad idea for me to get a set:

In this case, he has no spark as per his observations.. .spark comes from the crank sensor to the module to the ecm. He proved the module was good by using the casper coil/module tool. But, this does not prove the connectors are good because it uses its own connector and power source.
As Dan suggested, it is always a good idea to recheck the crank sensor to make sure the blades are passing thru the proper slot and to also be sure it did not get bumped out of alignment during the engine reinstall. Then history tells us that it is not uncommon for pins to get bent in the connectors, or pushed back out of the connector so that is worth verifying along with the fuses involved in the circuitry. I think it is lesson common for the ecm to be bad at this point and a properly behaving check engine lite that is not dim or blinking is a good sign in some cases.
If the ignition has spark but will not start, and you don't have a noid light, you can spray some carb cleaner into the throttlebody and then crank it over. If it runs for a moment, pops, bangs, etc, then you can check fuel pressure. If it has enuf fp, then you can pretty much assume you have a problem associated with the cam sensor. Simply not being set correctly will still produce backfires if it is putting out a signal. If it does nothing, then you can look for a deeper problem.
Some Chinese dude is credited with saying, "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he can eat for life."
That is the reason I try to get people to understand how stuff works instead of simply saying check this. I am sure it is irritating, but that's just me, I guess.
