My Dad, and Ed's were in the Pacific.  The last fight the West has won.

My fathers destroyer  left the Pacific in 1945 as the war closing. They were moved to the Atlantic and Mediterranean area to protect merchant ships till the end of the war.  All in all his ship was in all of the major battles of the pacific. 13 battle stars and ribbons were earned.

Mine was a medic.  He rode tin cans from one island to the next.  I think he was pretty lucky as he seemed to always be in the wave following the first assault.

My Dad was a Navy CPO in WWII stationed on a submarine repair base on an island near New Guinea. This is a shell he sent home.
