I am building a new instrument panel for my Challenger very much like the one in the picture. I want to install a high beam indicator and some idiot lights along the bottom similar to the three shown in the pic. They used to sell push in bulb holders with a domed lens at Radio Shack in various colors. They pushed into a half inch hole. The only thing I find today are round/flat faced lens that protrude out of the panel which I don't like the look of.
I ordered some leds for the turn signals, but, I think a conventional bulb would be better for these....
Got any idea as to proper nomenclature for this type would be? My Google skills are not up to the task today.

Gimme a minute....
edit:
Panel lamps, indicator lights, pilot lights

like these but round? bought some a while ago, checking stockroom

yeah, I prefer a round/domed style that does not protrude very much... they used to be on virtually every piece of equipment as power indicators

I bought a wholesale lot of automotive electrical parts off of eBay many years ago.
I will check later.

This probably what it takes to get a true incandescent LED equivalent:

"sunlight readable", the white at 4800mcd (millicandella) should be good

Steve - I have a few old skool illuminated rocker and toggle switches - need any of those?
-
I hope not! I am tired of building stuff...:)
-
okay, got started
-
Nice!

Thanks...tryin g to figure how to cock the speedometer toward the center as it is offset to the left of the column. It will cock, but need to rivet a brace in place to keep it from straightening out....only thing that works on the factory cluster is the speedometer, and, sometimes, the fuel gauge....I am not losing much.
I bought a collection of gauges on Ebay a couple of years ago...might be one of my few good purchases :)
-
BTW, ten years after you told me that plastic oil lines would never last, I bought a braided line for this oil gauge just in case you turn out to be right! :D Hope it is long enuf.
-
Now when the braided blows apart you will be cussing me.
-
you got that right...my plastic lines are all still working...knoc k on wood

...knoc k on wood
You've a funny name for masturbation
-
damned if I can pull the bulbs out of the bulb holders to swap them for some leds. Autometer, you need to rethink this design !!
-
Okay, bought new sockets and managed to get the bulbs out so I could install leds. Almost there.
-
But will the car move?
-
LOL....not sure
-
Damn, I need to get back on this project and install a decent ground under the dash and put this frick'n thing in
-
did you make sure the goats were fed during this project...
-
goats job is to feed me
-
Okay, quit playing with Buicks and back on this. Hard to remember how the damn thing was installed. Carpets are next if I can get all the wrinkles out from being stored in the box for a year and a half
-
I like the looks of white gauges. Nice job
-
Is this the original look?
Yours is way cooler

yep, that is it...most of the gauges did not work right on mine....
