Title: Drivers side header
Post by: RTR on April 15 2012, 01:28:25 AM
Drivers side header is cracked. Should I have the weld shop tig or mig weld the header? Also should I buy a copper gasket for the install?

The header is stainless so either method will work but tig is best.  Make sure you brace the header on a old head or make something to stop it from heat warping. No need for a gasket if the header is flat. If not the bandaid gasket will leak too. Have the welding shop check it and clean up on a belt sander if needed.

In this pic - you can see a correctly welded header - with good bracing.
