Last night, my son arrived at Air Force basic training in San Antonio TX, Lackland AFB.
He really busted his ass to get in - and I couldn't be more proud. He signed for 6 years, he will be the AF equivalent of an MP - Security Services.
He's following in family footsteps, and wants to dedicate his life (at least 20 years of it) to the service.
Here's a pic of him wearing my Father's uniform, my Father was killed in action during Vietnam. In the 2nd pic, he's wearing the FUBAR shirt I bought him, and wearing his Great-Grandfather's helmet liner from WWII.

Congratulation s to both of you!

Good on him! I hope he does your family name proud.
I punted a cousin of mine off of basic training for being junk - I didn't want to be confused with a bag of hammers. Your boy should be greatful I won't be his course Officer for bootcamp... LOL!
All the best to him in this life changing endeavour.

Best part is this:
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE FIRST 72 HOURS
When your son, daughter or spouse arrives at San Antonio’s International Airport, they will be greeted by a BMT Reception Center Military Training Instructor (MTI). Newly arriving trainees are instructed to call home and let family know they safely arrived in San Antonio – regardless if your trainee called you when they first get off the plane.
Your trainee will call again within a 72 hour period of arriving in San Antonio. The purpose of this phone call is to give you their mailing address the trainee will be using for the next 8 ½ weeks. Please prepare yourself mentally for the call as there is not time to chat and your Airman may seem very stressed or emotional. Rest assured your Trainee is just fine.
:D
Here he is wrenching on his TR (Well, it will be his once he completes his first 4 years, and yes - there's jackstands - you can't see them, they are behind the front wheels)

He will be safer in the Air Force then under a car with no horses :cool;

:P
Hee's another pic where you can see the 'stands.
