First off I'd like to say hello and a thank you at the same time. This site has answered several question already for me utilizing the search function.
A quick rundown.
I've had my Gn since 2003, I got the car as a high school graduation present. In late 2007 I blew a head gasket. The car had 121,000 on it. I was running a fresh turbo, a set of headers, high flow cat, cat back exhaust, stock injectors and chip. Car was running really good minus the transmission that was on its way out. Probably should have fixed the head gasket and put a new tranny in it but hindsights 20/20 so out it came to be rebuilt
New combo
Forged steel crank
Eagle rods
Je pistons
Flat-tappet Comp cam(can't remember exact grind. 1 step above factory as I still have stock chip)
Roller rockers
Balanced & Blueprinted
Fresh rebuilt transmission with shift kit
Motor has been done since 09 but sat in the car about 3/4 done as I played with my other car and bike for the past couple years. I will be starting the car Monday if all goes as planned. I've done the following over the last 3 months since beginning to work on the old girl again.
All new Vaccum lines and check valves(zip tied everywhere)
All new heater, coolant & radiator hoses
New radiator(utilizing stock oil cooler)
B&M trans cooler with braided lines
New oil cooler lines
Converted to Vaccum brakes(powermaster was toast)
Reprimed motor(read 60 psi on gauge)
Set camshaft sensor with the tool
Installed scamaster 2.1, vdo boost gauge and an auto meter tach(already had oil & temp)
I have rotella 15/40 with zinc additive for break in oil(what the engine builder put in)
I have put in 5 qts of tranny fluid to start
I think I'm good to go for start up and break in(will be doing it with the engine builder)
Anything I'm forgetting or overlooking?
Sorry for the long post

Don't twist the key...until you get a chip from Eric at Turbotweak.
-
Not knowing if the injectors are gummed stuck, or not, you might try taking a socket extension and place one end of it on each injector base...and rapidly tap the other end with a light hammer..not hard enuf to crack the injector, but hopefully hard enuf to vibrate it and loosen the internals if gummed up
-
I will tap the injectors lightly.
I plan for new injectors and a chip in the very near future I figure it ran good before so shoud be fine for start up and break in. I will not be Going wot or anything near that till its chipped and tuned correctly. Will I be ok for break in and some easy miles with stock set chip and injectors(hopefully not gummed up) or am I asking for trouble?
-
I'd be going with a new set of 60 lb injectors and a matching chip from Eric. Just my 2 cents.

So you have oil in the motor from 2009 then sat until now? All the startup prep that was done needs to be redone including pulling the cam sensor and priming the motor. Get some new injectors or have the old ones cleaned.
Also don't use the Rotella these days for break-in. Buy Brad Penn or Joe Gibbs break-in oil. After you can use Rotella or what your machinist says.

The oil has been in since 09 but I just reprimed and set camshaft sensor a few nights ago. I am going to clean injectors tonight. Carb cleaner should Be ok on them?
I will be talking to the motor guy on Friday to make plans to start it up Monday. I'm going to ask him about the rotella for cam break in. It's his warranty on it so I'll see what he says
-
don't know how carb cleaner can clean injectors
-
Was going to take the injectors out & spray them with carb cleaner??
What is the preferred method to clean them?
-
take them to a place than cleans injectors...th ey take them apart, clean out the filter screens, ultrasonic clean the insides, and flow test them to see if they spray and flow correctly
-
Learn something new everyday. I'm gonna go ahead and order a set of 60 lb/hr injectors and a matching chip. Thanks for the input

Fired up the car yesterday. Broke the cam in and everything sounded good. Got a antifreeze leak and a oil leak I need to find. Gonna change the oil and then it goes to the tranny shop Thursday morning for the new 2400 stall converter and adjustment. A big thank you to all you guys the knowledge I've gotten just with the search on this site has been invaluable

Glad to hear the progress :)
