I want to live somewhere I can shoot wildlife in my yard. Varmints at least. Maybe a goat or two. :068:

Stop by my place. Coyotes are getting bold. They're coming up from the creek at nite...sounded awful close the other morning around 2am.

Nice! Send them to me. I'll keep them for about 15 years and report back to you. :068: :icon_kidra:
Gotta love the .40 (Ok, some don't) You like the small and fast theory? You can go that way. You like the heavy bullet theory? You can go that way too -- same gun, same caliber.
-
Well since we're showing off a few toys, here's one I started working on after it sat in the safe for almost 10 years now. :icon_redface: VZ24 mauser action with a hinged trigger guard and light weight 22" barrel. Fully bedded with a floating barrel in .308 Winchester. It will make a nice deer rifle when it's done. :atbeer:
-
I don't know much about firearms, but I love the Mauser style.

I was actually looking for a 9, but it is getting very hard to find some guns due to demand outstripping manufacturing capability at the moment. I understand Ruger and its associated lines have told their distributors that no more orders will be accepted this year as it is over 1,000,000 guns behind as of the moment. I wanted the 9 for the cheaper ammo. .40 seems to be about 50% higher. The 7.62x39 is about $25 per hundred for the AK and that is about twice what it was a few years back, but, still not too bad...I can dump 30 rds without crying, anyway
I find the .40 a bit hard to shoot as compared to my 1911. I seem to be pulling it low altho I got better today. I ordered a new sear to reduce the trigger pull a bit as well as shorten it up. Recoil is pretty good and slows down target acquisition, but, that should get better as I get used to it. Mags are almost impossible to load due to high spring pressure. I ordered a Lula loader to get past that and it may get a bit easier after leaving them loaded for a bit.
The trigger is really not all that bad except I always shoot single action and this feels like about 7 lbs to me.
-
I could never shoot any pistol as well as I could a 1911, and I imagine many people are in that group. Mr Browning knew his stuff, eh? Would rather field strip a Sig, though.
-
Check Brownells and Midway usa for a trigger kit Steve. It should make it more comfortable to shoot with the right parts in it.
-
Ordered the Apex sear and buffer kit for it....seems to have an excellent rep
Thinking about ordering the Storm Lake 9mm barrel as well
-
installed the sear and striker block kits today. Suddenly I can hit what I am aiming at
-
How much did it cut the trigger pull down Steve?
-
factory, after broken in is supposed to be 6.5-7#, but, mine felt closer to 9 or so...
With the new sear and striker block, it is supposed to be around 4-4.5#. I would guess it feels like 4. I was shooting about ten inches low at 25 ft...trying as hard as I could to not pull the gun off target while squeezing trigger. Now it is right.....much smoother take up and easy break
-
and yesterday, they release a single stack/smaller version.....da mn 'em! http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_809559_-1_780153_757781_757781_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y (http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_809559_-1_780153_757781_757781_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y)
and a lower price...bastar ds
-
Killed my first rattler today, in my yard, but, I .410'd him in the head

Screw thjat, make chili out of it. Even tastes decent on the grill if done right. :icon_fU: I do agree with you though Steve. I absolutely hate snakes and will run off the road slightly to drive over one.
-
Make me a belt.
I'll give ya' a belt.
-
I have buckles bigger than you.
-
The one you have is 10 rounds. You never know when you'll need that extra 3-4 rounds.
As far as snakes go my wife's grandmother came across a little one button in her closet the other day. The deputy put a coffee can over it and took it outside for her.
-
where did my post go?
the little snakes have a far greater concentration of poison due to their small size. They are often more deadly with their bites.
I bought another M&P yesterday....t hey just brought out a slim version called the Shield and I saw one at Academy in a 9mm. Single stack, only holds 8 in the longer mag but is better for a jeans pocket when walking around the place....shoot s pretty good. Got some snakeshot for it...the 40 is a lot stronger, but up close, the 9 does a good job on snakes as well
-
Just remember, the next snake season to open is in November when the politics start up for real.
-
open season in that category
