payment and shipping details are to be worked out but my offer was accepted
It is a 1967 Buick Special Deluxe...I have been searching for a few mos for something different...st ayed away from the popular cars as what I was looking for was not in my or my wifes...lol budget...It is a CA car with a little rust that should be any easy fix for me. I wanted something to go to car shows and take the kids and dog for ice cream...and that was turn key and I would not need to do a lot of work on.. My wife saw the interior and liked it...after a few e-mails and PM's with Brad Conley, Chris Pollak and the current owner on the V8 board we struck a deal. So after 10 plus years with the GN that I sold I am back with a V8...

Wow!
Cool car!
-
Great car! Simple to work on, and you know a paint guy!
-
Good for you, always liked the looks of them.

ought to have great torque for driving. Don't know what kinda brakes it has up front, but, I would not hesitate to put money into the best brakes that are practical as those big ol' boats take a lot of slowing down. Go thru the suspension and fix as needed and add good shocks. Nothing like sailing down the road in comfort and safety :)

Very nice Sean. If it still has points in it do the petronics conversion and call it a day. The only thing anyone will notice is the extra wire coming out of the distributor and you won't have to deal with the points ever again. :D
-
Nice. Put some padding around that tree before you bring it home :)
-
Congrats Sean. Enjoy the new ride.

I second that. I hate seeing trees hurt
-
Looks Good! I know you like playing with "Skirts" so Enjoy!! :add_wegbrech:

In Seans case I think we can call them kilts. :icon_lol:

Love the engine bay - so uncluttered.
-
Like the one I had. It was in the family for 20 years before I got it and restored & GS-ified it.
Interesting the way the did the trim on yours Sean. The central states Spl Dlx cars had the sweep spear up high and the front fender trim on yours may be an indication that those fenders were originally on a Skylark.

Two words: Turbo Swap.
Congrats.

Didn't think about it at first but I think the Olds 215 turbo set up will bolt on in place of the intake. The Olds and the Buick used the same heads I believe.
-
promised wife...no performance upgrades...wil l redo suspension as Steve Suggested...pa yment was sent and scheduled pick up with enclosed carrier
-
Well the petronics points replacement isn't performance so I hope you think about it for reliability at least. :D
-
think the Olds had one more head bolt per cylinder than the Buick, so it seems that one can go on the other, but, not vice versa...
Make the car a cruiser and get there in comfort-that's my thought when you have a wife that knows you.
-
Goodluck with it Shawanda. Enjoy it and I hope the radio works because its really going to be 'FUN' trying to replace that one.
-
Any plans to add aftermarket A/C?

agreed....if I want the need for speed there are plenty of guys that will let me take car down the 1/4
-
Bah, make it safe, reliable, and a blast to drive.
-
what is interesting after doing some research the 300 motor is very similar to the 231 V6 motor for example the rear main seals are the same
-
Not gonna modify it... I give it a week.
-
want to upgrade ignition....an d suspension and brakes

car is supposed to only weigh 3200# so it is not considered a boat....
-

wife is already worried about how much I am not going to spend...lol

I've always wanted a 65 riviera

There was on old Riv at BG in '05 I think.
I need to find the pic - awesome car.

Found it!
-
20 years can make a good thing fugly
-

I think I am more excited about this car than my GN....funny thing is I do not miss it....
-
You will. Just enjoy this one for now.

The Ents would have picked him up and given him the ol heave ho
I guess he stayed up all time sitting in it and imagining how cool he would be if he was?
-
Good luck with the new car Sean :atbeer: :atbeer: :atbeer:
-
Very happy with the car
-
Looks nice :)
-
there was a nice 58 corvette and a 66 Malibu convertable on the rig too so the Buick was in good company
-
Sean love the car, just lose the skirts. And when you get board I am pretty good at building twin turbo V8s from scratch. A blow through carb and some stock GN turbos would make cruising that much quicker.
-
Yeah - I guess if I *had* to find anything I didn't like, it would be the skirts. (On Sean's car at least. :tongue)
-
Nice Car!!
-
I get lots of props for the skirts....only problem is if I dump the getting the wheel well trim is harder than finding good wheel well trim for a Buick G-body
-
I'll look at my 68 and see if the trim looks alike Sean. If they do I'll take a pic and some measurements of them so you can check. :D
-
love it
-
My 67 Spl Dlx had no wheel well trim. Looked fine.
-
Steve it has trim on the front ww so I would have to remove those
-
Well leave the skirts on if you want original and a unique look. Just saying that these cars look fine w/o the wheel well trim.
I notice though that the skirts on yours appear to cover part of the quarter panel. If you check my cars pic you'll see a detail around the rear wheel well.
All in all, the Cali cars were different than what the rest of the country got. Your grill is a Spl Dlx grill, The front fenders are Skylark, the interior is Spl Dlx, the side trim is Skylark. The options mine had were just the AM radio, PS & AC. It was gold ext & parchment int. Replacing the headliner was a 4 hour job & my neck was sore for a week. S&S Fabrics in Seattle had the headliner material and some of the original seat cover vinyl.
