Title: Sound Deadning
Post by: Steve Wood on January 22 2012, 11:41:30 AM: I see all these cars completely lined with Dynamat, Fat Mat, alligator skin, or whatever and think I ought to do that, but, damn that is a lot of money.

While trying to find what worked the best for the least amount of money and weight, I ran across some posts referring to this guy's tests from a few years ago. Now, he has quit testing and is selling his own product...but what is interesting to me is how little he uses and the variety of materials for specific uses.....

Post by: Steve Wood on January 22 2012, 11:47:48 AM: it does not really insulate a lot of sound, it just turns dings into thuds, I think. heat is a different issue and the sound products often do not do much for heat but, there are heat aimed products out there. I guess that is not completely true, but, the stuff that does a good job on blocking sound is very heavy...his comments on MLV apply, I think

Scientifically, this guy's comments sound valid to me.
