Title: Cam Sensor
Post by: daveismissing on December 01 2011, 07:00:30 PM

Instructions look good.
Anything else not yet in there I need to know?

don;t think so...just be sure it is truly on tdc

So...

OEM cap or Casper's?

Pros and cons?

I have one of both, they are both simple...but, I guess the caspers is good for someone with no volt meter or cam sensor tool.  With it, you line the mark up on tdc instead of 25 degs off so that is simpler

Yeah...once ya' get it set...tell the owner of the vehicle to get in and turn the key. Just as they're about to twist the key...stick your fingers in your ears and wince...like it's gonna explode. The look on their face...is priceless. The cam sensor tool kicks ass...text me if ya' need to borrow it...or I can take a blast out if ya' run into problems.

yeah, watching that light go on and off is eversomuch better than watching the voltage drop....unless you are color blind and cannot tell if the light is red or green and you stop on green

Oh I suppose I could make one, I do it all the time here to set up brushless multiphase dc motors.

why would a genius want to make a volt meter?  Tesla would not stoop to such a level when he could send an assistant to the store for one while he enjoyed a cool one

I meant idiot lights for the hall sensor

There was one for sale on our board...for $20.00. Guess who bot it for a spare for the shop. I thot for sure you would have beat me to it.

I remember someone posting how to make a sensor tool a while ago but lost the link. Anyone got it by chance?

If my name was Tim, it would be Troll sarcasm....jus t a reflection of disbelief that people cannot use a volt meter to read voltage drop

Hall sensors are almost always open collector so a LED in series with 1500 ohms between +12 and the output lead should work. Now the logic may be inverted gap vs nogap conditions....

Does this classify as a hall sensor?

double pole variety-it goes both ways

Not likely...but look no further than on the other board at the ones who faint over Prince.
