Title: Transmission Carnage
Post by: Scoobum on October 07 2011, 11:51:11 PM
Got the trans back today...and found out what happened on that solo pass last Saturday. The seal blew off the direct clutch piston...and the clutch discs and steels welded themselves to the forward drum. I was fortunate as I had handed an Art Carr heat treated front drum and a CK Performance billet input shaft to him when I dropped the trans off. He also added a 10 vane pump...and added 1 extra steel/1 extra friction disc to the direct drum...along with the other hard parts that were already in it. Should be able to to take one awful shit kicking now.

Not really. We drove 90 minutes yesterday each way to get it...put it up on the dowels and tightened in the bellhousing bolts...and finished the rest this morning. Couple years ago...we would have finished it yesterday. Dan and I are gettin' old.
