Title: 16" Drag Radial Tire Pressure
Post by: Scoobum on September 23 2011, 10:30:18 PM
Being the cheap Buick SOB that I am...I just got back from scoring a pair of 28X9 MT slicks and a pair of MT drag radial 255/50/16's...both pair in mint condition for four hundred bucks. The question I ask...is what tire pressure to run the 16" DR's at the track.

Never saw anyone running 16" DR's.  I am not sure how they will work because of the slightly shorter sidewalls, but, I suspect air pressure will not be particularly sensitive due to that.  I know that the 60 series in the 15" seem to bite much better than the 50's, but who knows with these.  Here is what Mickey says:

ET STREET RADIAL

On the racetrack DO NOT use starting pressures below 11 psi.

Recommend pressures for:

P295 and larger sizes: 12-16 psi

P275 and smaller sizes: 14-18 psi

On the highway we recommend running 75% -100% of maximum psi stated on the sidewall of the tire. This will vary depending on the weight of the vehicle.
