is Pete Hoffman and why does he get constant airplay on the Dennis Kirban channel?
-
He authored the "Information Guide" for the 86-87 turbo regals. Chock full of usefull technical information, references and specs.

Why? I don't recall seeing anything out of date. Torque specs don't get "old".
-
I think I bought that book when I first bought my car in '98...and I don't think I've opened it since.
-
Would it have say , bearing clearances?
What we need is Steve and Ed's book.
-
easy enuf to look up torque specs...easy enuf to look up others in the shop manual.
-
It is ok to read through once but the shop manual is much better.
-
It wasn't meant to replace the shop manual, it was meant to be a handy referance manual, with info on commonly needed info.
Especially for those that don't have the shop manual.

LOL

I purchased many of Kirbans books for sale many years back & the only one I used a lot when needing part numbers for engine etc. was the Facts & Figures by Steven L Dove.
I used it often at the dealership for part numbers & general info. I have 3 others here that never got more than 5 mins reading each. including the 2nd book by Steven L Dove.
I think he passed away??
The window rattle booklet is also handy to have. I believe thats from Pete Hoffman.
Maybe one year I'll fix that passenger window motor that takes 5 mins to close!
-
Pete Serio did the rattle book- that's not a bad guide for the first-timer.
The adjustments do become somewhat apparent when you really stop
to think about it.

Glad you find my posts amusing.

I knew it was a guy named Pete!

Those books served it's purpose back in the day. No reason to use them now with the CD version manual available. Also with Steve's site and help from the bulletin boards with more up to date info.

Back then all I had was a few magazines along with Kirban Newsletter & GS Extra so I used it a lot, but now it's just something from my early days with these cars.
When I got my first computer the first thing I found was the car sites.
These days it's easy to learn if your willing to read & ask questions. :supz:

Except you have to figure out whom to listen to as there is a lot of knee jerk info put out by people who are repeating what they heard from someone else and so on....
There are some out there that still today that advise someone to adjust the tps when it is clearly in the window to fix some problem, etc.
Or, guys who tell people with basically stock cars to buy a big turbo because it is the latest and greatest without understanding it only works better in certain conditions....
