If I sell a car to someone from out of state, who wants to have it shipped to them, what's the best way to receive payment?
-
bank check or cold hard cash
-
We have used Paypal also.

Bank transfer, more secure! Think there is a 24-48hr time limit where it can be reversed, so check with your bank!
-
Do you know how a bank transfer works. I mean how can he send me money without knowing my account number? That's not something I want to share.
-
certified check..and do not release car until check clears

I think if your bank has a heads-up all you need to give the other party would be the routing number. As far as a cashier's check goes, I've heard of those turning out to be fraudulent as well, but I don't see why you couldn't call the bank of origin and verify it's validity prior to releasing the vehicle...?

A Bank draft/ Cashiers cheque (same thing)
Wait 5 days for it to clear both banks.
Don't think you can loose that way.
Paypal into a bank account that you don't have overdraft protection.
Withdraw funds immediately- but I still dont like it.

They do require your account number for wire transfers.
A cashier's check or certified check drawn from their personal bank is good, you can call the bank and verify the funds. Then tell them they can get the car once the check clears both accounts.
Postal money order are good. Very hard to forge, and forging on is a federal offense.
