Title: Libya
Post by: Steve Wood on February 26 2011, 05:24:15 PM
I wonder if Reagan was running this country today if he would send a couple of gunships off a carrier and solve the problem?

I was living there when he led the revolution against the king and restored true islam with his little green book.....now he is in revolt against the true muslims that he once trumpeted.   gonna need a score card to sort the mid east out pretty soon.

I think even Hillary would send in gunships. Obama would rather send troops into Wisconsin to protect the teacher's union.

Steve, speaking of Texas Rangers, have you seen the new True Grit with Jeff Bridges?  Best movie I've seen in a while.

Steve, care to elaborate on your time living there? I can't help it, I'm a faggot for a good story.

There is a new conservative wave coming and it's deeper and wider than most know, I think. Let's us just wait this Obama thing out.

I guess my question is "Where are all these liberals that accused GWB of high gas prices?" When he was in office, it was all his fault... Because the President sets the gas price  :rolleyes;

Obama was going to allow off-shore drilling, then pissed backwards after the BP spill. I'm all for alternative energy, but its not going to happen tomorrow or the day after. Just the talk of drilling our own oil puts the Saudi's in a tailspin and suddenly the price of crude starts to drop. I guess that's the typical liberal way, say one thing and do another  :mad:

I don't like war, and I don't like our our society is dictated on what goes on in other parts of the planet either.

I have to say, I don't think the rebellions taking place in the various Middle Eastern countries will bode well for the U.S.   We were friends with the dictators because it benefited us and kept the oil flowing.  Now, these countries will eventually fall in line with the Muslim Brotherhood and become enemies to the U.S.   There never has been and never will be in our life time democracy in the Middle East.  Democracy and Islam are mutually exclusive entities.
The Middle Eastern oil strangle hold is tightening.  Drill here and drill now.

From my other diatribe.....

As far as the turmoil going on within Libya, Egypt, et al, being good for the people.  Don't bet on it, Islam is much like the catholic church in that it relies upon vast hordes of uneducated, unwashed cannon fodder for its advancement.  These countries may have a new Islamic leadership but the plight of the people will not substantially change.  One only has to look at Iran for a shining example.  The Islamic leadership used students and other educated people to foment the revolution against our puppet the Shah, then they promptly eliminated all these from any potential place of power and replaced them with the uneducated religious zealots that could recite the Koran by heart but had no idea of the outside world and so they stand today.

These are the same tactics that Lenin used in the Russian revolution.  He eliminated the brains after the revolution in order to have no competition.  This led to the problems the new nation had in competing on the world state.  The Chinese, on the other hand, put the brains in jail and declared them rehabilitated whenever they needed them...hence the quick return to the world stage.  History is very interesting.

I should let Chris post for me, he seems to be far more concise and does not piss people off as I do

I will provide some of my highlights in Libya in a separate thread.  I had some really good times there pre Qaddafi and it was a totally different experience than I had expected when I was first sent there.
