Title: Saw Fill-him-up yesterday...
Post by: 87natty on July 28 2005, 02:38:01 PM
I should have had a camera on me. The kid looks healthy, but remember he was bitching about that stuck fuel line nut a while back? Well, Neal grabbed Phil's nut like nobody has before and showed him how it was done. Not only did he bust Phil's nut (loose), he did it without breaking a sweat.

Good luck on your whole front timing assembly pal. :atbeer: I would've gone out to lunch with you, but I was an hour ad a half late to class and to top it off, I didn't have a work to show either. I was roasted for that one.

God damnit mother fucker

That fucking fitting would not come off and fucking Neal did it with one turn....

I used a whole can of Wd40
Broke one wrench.
Used Vice Grippes.
Used a flare wrench with copper piping to get more leverage.

And the asshole Neal does it in five seconds....

Hopefully my uncle can find time to let me use his garage this weekend to bust some of the shitout.

We dont really know whats going on with the car.  Could be valve srpings....  could be a cam lobe goign bad.

It drives well.  We took it for some little jaunts and all is ok jsut can't go into boost without 15Kr showing

Well think again.

No I didnt put the cam in.  I W A S planning on doing it this weekend at my uncles house where I work on the car.   Well he decided to act like a dear caught in the headlights and bitched out.  Something like, "I dont want to tear into your only car without someone that has worked on one before."  I was shocked when he said this! and Pissed.   We jsut finished a engine trans and front end rebuilt on a Bel Air.

Whatever.  I'm done trying.

now I have to drive the POS for another 31/2 months till ANYTHING can be worked on.

November

Yeah, I gambling on it being my up pipe blowing off the the throttle body. But maybe not. I wonder if I finally smoked a gasket? Hmm... I'll walk out there today. I think I have a collapsed lifter too. Save that cam, I might need it.

If you just pop it off so it leaks a bit - you won't get a code. If it comes completely off, you should get a MAF error.

'Leaks a bit?' I had a pipe clamp come off of the turbo-to-intercooler coupler once and every time I throttled it it sounded the a baby elephant in pain.

You ham fisted bitch. Have you got the rest of it out yet?

I started my car in the morning and heard the most horrendous exhaust I've heard in my life. Found out there was nothing left of the EGR valve gasket.

Beats the hell out of me. I go through 1 every couple years or so. I get when I tend to get on it it blows the boost out of the only weak link it can find, and when the gaskets old, POP! It's all cleaned up and ready for a new one, just looking for a ride to the parts store now. It's sounds like it happens all the time, but she's a worked daily driver.

Brian was that the problem you think?

I was torking the shit down to 10lbs but the tork wrench is too big I guess and I didnt feel the click....  So then my uncle tried to feel the click and snap!

We got the shit out of the head.  Luckily it snapped and left a piece to grab.

oh and no Buick dealers have the bolts so its going to be fun.

I was supposed to have the shit doen last night
damn

I was, just buttoned her up. Have to reset IAC and TPS now, I tuned it for an exhaust leak.

Take the bolt down to a NAPA. You don't need a dealer part. Just needs to match the threads, get it just as long or cut it. If it's one that has a stud on top, like for the wastegate solenoid, get a really long one and then cut the head off. put a nut on top to seal the cover and then another nut for the bracket. Paint it black if it makes you feel better.

way ahead of you... I'm on my way to a "bolt" store
Title: Re: Saw Fill-him-up yesterday...
Post by: Recklessrob on August 02 2005, 06:02:53 PM
If you can't find a bolt for it, you can
get a piece of 1/4-20 threaded rod, a flat
washer, and a hex nut to hold it together until you
find the right bolt.

So what did you do? Did it take you 4 days to do your valve springs? I know you checked your cam too, but damn.

Anyway, my cam's still alive. I thought I had a valvetrain knock, like a collasped lifter or cracked rocker shaft. It was just soem weird harmonics that went away with the EGR gasket.

Yeah I know it took forever.

We were taking our sweet ass time and a couple trips to Pep Boys really eats time.
Then we bs'ed alot.  And we had to wait 2 hours for confermation on the cam lifters.

So yeah it took too long
