Title: Going racing tonight
Post by: Turbo Archie on July 27 2005, 12:56:22 PM
It went from 104 deg three days ago to 72 today. It should run better.

I installed the 3.5" DP on the little TE-34 and hope to have fixed the knock problem I had. It looks like the 3.5" is close to the frame but we will see.

I ran close to 113 on a 97deg day @ 26psi and pig rich. I'm going to run with the dump open to try to eat up some of that fuel and also add some timming. Last run was only 12-15 deg of timming.

If I can get the A/F up to where it should be, I will start to add boost.

I'm not focused on ET's right not untill I start making some power. Then the HR bar might find it's way to my house.

Thanks, We have a street racing event at the track on thursday I'm going to. We don't do much racing, but should be fun and need my car running in the 11's to at least race someone. They all think these cars are in the 9's so...

I do have a wideband along with a DFI and 55's.

If it does keep knocking I might pull the plug. Has anyone on here done this???

I had to pull the plug due to the knocking @ shift points.

Ran the same mph but went a little quicker 11.74 but with only 23psi as opposed to 26-27 last time.

It was 65 deg out and had inlet temps at 105 at the big end. On the 97 deg day they were around 144 deg.

The one thing I like about these cars is that they go a little faster each time out. I'm going to the street race tonight but wont push it to more untill I get the knock figured out.

Its 9am fri and I,m almost out the door on my way down to Turbo Thunder 6. Us Pacific  NW guys look forward to it every year. There should be obout 50 turbo cars there and most of them are TB's. I shoud be running high 11's on 295 35 18's ,but we'll see. There should be some heavy hitters there including some 8 sec turbo V8 cars! :supz:

What about your motor mounts? I think if it's knocking at sift points it could be your motor mounts, downpipe or even the tranny mount.

Well I just put new cheap mounts in. The tranny mount is old. I replaced the stock DP with the 3.5" which is very close to the frame.

I never had a problem like this before. I think it has to do with the knock mod on the fender.
