As you know, I spent the last year getting the car restored. New paint, complete new suspension, etc...

Well, Mrs. Racer X and I went out for breakfast one Sunday in the GN.  After breakfast we get on the freeway (for those of you in rural areas a freeway is like the interstate only wider and much faster) and I get the POS ... errrr ....GN up to about 100 to stretch its legs a bit.

It was about then that we heard a loud BANG! Thinking I lost a tire I checked mirror to see what was happening behind me when I see the exhaust system AND the drive shaft leaving the car. GREAT.

With no power, we coast off the freeway and call for a tow truck.  I call my chief mechanic, Sod Bogosian, and ask him if I can bring my crate in for him to fix (again). He was cool enough to let me bring the POS in on short notice.

He checks the car out and tells me something in the trans locked up and barber poled the drive shaft that caused it to break away from the rear U Joint and mess up the trans yoke pretty good. In doing so, it took the exhaust system with it (the loud bang).

It was as some point standing on the side of the road for the 6th time I have owned this car (or did it own me) that I had enough and wanted it out of my life once and for all.  After 6, yes 6, transmissions and one motor in 21 years (I was the original owner) I had to call uncle and give in to the car's wishes to live else where.

I told Sod as soon as we showed up in the tow truck to sell it to the first reasonable offer.  Sod told me he would wait a week to let me think about it, but I told him I did not need a week.  He had a buyer in about an hour  :rofl;  but made the buyer wait a week to make sure I was right about this.  After the week I told Sod I was bringing the pink slip and lets get this done.

The car has been gone for a month and I have NO regrets. I paid my dues and now it's someone elses project.

So there, you may now talk among yourselves...  :cool;

Sorry to hear that. It was a beautiful car. At least your family was not hurt. It could of been a lot worse.   Yes, I do know what a freeway is..I don't know if our neighbors down here know.

On a good note, I have an excellent start to buying a new Dodge Challenger SRT8!

I actually don't blame you.  I would sell my POS in a heartbeat.

It's quite liberating once you do it!

What's funny is he looks SOOOO intimidating, but when you get to know him he is a truly great guy.  He and his brother Manual have a 6 or 7 second twin turbo GN with a full interior. The car is sick!

So true, it was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders when I sold all three of mine.

Oh, and why a Challenger? ... why not a C6 Z06?

I think we've all been there. It's to be expected with any 20 year old car.
The Duramax diesel conversion is really starting to look good about now.
