Title: Buying SS lines...can it be anymore @#$%*&^ difficult!?!
Post by: gordyzx9r on July 12 2008, 09:59:15 PM
Ever try to search tubes online at classictube.co m for a GN?  It's kinda confusing.

Multiple lines for the same thing, with different part #s...some have corresponding years...some don't

I guess I'll call Monday and see if someone there can decipher it so I don't buy multiples.

I'll give you the only tip I know, don't install the rear line, I guess none of them ever seal properly. I wonder if it's a different flare angle than the front?

The fuel line?  I've read that quite a few people like them, however...no one seems to remember if they used the 1 piece or 2 piece for the filter.

The rear brake line. Kits have two for the front brakes, line to the calipers. Then one for the rear.

Well, I called them up and talked to Tim...who apparently has a car "like" ours.  Basically, it came down to me saying send me everything you have for an '87 Grand National and him laughing and saying okay.

This is what else I ordered over the past two days:

Blistein Gas Shocks
Eibach Pro-Kit Rate Springs
Energy Suspension Bushings
Polygraphite

The hard part was rummaging through all the boards reading through the drama over the different vendor's parts.  Especially the aluminum radiators and who copied who's and who's is made in China, blah, blah, blah...what it ended up boiling down to was picking the one (http://buickgn.com/aluminum%20radiators.htm) that the most people on the forums said they use, like, and have had no problems with.  I was tempted to go with the F-Body radiator but decided to do that with the T-Type I plan on acquiring whenever I can find one that fits my wants.

The other hard part was brakes for the front, there aren't very many choices for stock GN rims (but more for stock T-Type rims...go figure) so SSBC was about my only choice for an upgrade over the stock.

And I figured if I'm going have the SS lines run which is gonna require having body up off the frame I might as well have all the bushings and so forth replaced.

Took some pics today since it wasn't raining, I really need to take it somewhere photogenic and get something worth framing.
