It was the one of the hardest things I've ever done.
It was my brindle colored pit Rochelle (Rocky) Had her for 12 years.
She was my dog

Oh man, I can't even begin to give you any kind of solace, as it's just words. I love my dog more than a lot of people in this world, and I don't know how I'd handle it.

Sorry to hear that. I had a cat for 20 years that I had to put down.
Looking back on it now it was better than letting him suffer, but it
sucked at the time.

I'm sorry Jim. Dogs are like part of the family.
-
Jim, I am so sorry to hear about your dog. I can not imagine on how you feel. Hang in there our thoughts are with you.
-
Thanks everyone.
I was really attached to her, more than any animal I've ever had. I've dumped more money on her over the years than any other. The wife would get mad at me some times, but always backed me in the end. When I took her in this morning I wouldn't do it, thought that if she pulled thru I'd take care of her(then reality set in). I left my new jacket and shirt with her at the vet so she would have my smell with her and wouldn't feel lonely. I stayed with her to the end (wife had to leave and I can't blame her for that) I didn't want her to go with out me being there, afterwards I had the Doc put my shirt and jacket in the box with her. A bit sappy, but I wanted her to be warm.

Sorry to hear. I am on my first dog now and it can't be an easy thing to do.

Jim:
I am sorry to hear that, Jim, and I pretty much know how you feel. A pet is a part of the family, pretty much the cornerstone and catalyst that binds the family together. I am getting very near to having my cat put to sleep, I have had him since about 87 or so, and he has hung in there and outlasted a few girlfriends. I am sure that there is a place in your and your family's heart for another after the pain heals. Not an easy thing to do.
