OK, just daydreaming... working nights for the next 4 days....
OK, stretch IC, 2800 stall 12" and 50lb injectors.
What's the max turbo (I like the 44's) but may wish to push it a tad faster.
-
I want to say you can easily push a 51 with that setup. 12" 2800 Pat's? I love that converter. Got the same one in my GN, but with a stock turbo. Been beating on it (converter) for 3 years or so now, daily driven, no issues.
-
A 44 will work with a stock torque converter. I'd bet a TE-60 would work nicely
for the same price as a 44.
-
Also looking at the GT 6152 E, which replaces the 50's
-
I dig those ball bearing Garrett's. That's what is it right?
-
No not want I can find. You can get a 44 in BB or a GT6131
My think Rob is right a CPTE-60 from Jack would be the max for my stall and the same price.
-
I ran at one time a T 70 p trim bb turbonetics turbo with a 2800 converter. Thing spooled like crazy .. now of course you will need some bigger injectors than 50s. One other thing I did was to use a garrett turbine housing over the pte one. Only one thing can be said though ...ball bearing turbos rule!
-
A 52 or 54 may be a good choice.

I can't wait to hear from you when you put that 51 in....have space in your luggage for it! At sea level you should have plenty of stall for it.
-
I wouldn't go bigger than a t62-ish with a 2800 stall. Throw in a boost valve and it will spool decently.

Do you want me to call you during or after morning wood?
-
I know of at least one that has failed at 9k miles and a dozen or so passes.
I'll wait them out a little longer. But I'm really suprised that on some of the choices with only a 2800 stall and 50s...oh I have alky too.
I had not heard of any short lived turbonetic bb turbos .. have heard of several pte/ garrett ones dying. But, they are different turbos, pte/ garrett is a dual bb where as the turbonetic's is only bb on the cool side.
Since you are lookin to stay with 50# injectors .. I would look to a small p trim turbo. maybe a te-63, but nothing larger than that. that will get you into the low 11's easily with some c16, or low 12's on pump gas and 17 to 18 psi boost.
As for spool up with bb turbos, my last set up was a t-72 turbonetics bb p trim .. got it off old buzzard in Atlanta, Ga. that turbo was on a girdled 109, champ iron heads, ported intake, and a speed pro 214 cam. I could wack the throttle in park and get 3 psi on the boost gauge. Which ever turbo you choose ...go with the bb option. You won't regret it.

Some more food for thought...
With the BB turbo, you'll need to add water lines to cool it.
And they're very pricey. If you're willing to meet that criteria, BB
is the way to go. :supz:
-
RR the T-netics does not require water cooling. The PTE/Garrett may very well since it's a dual bb turbo.

Ok, am I the only one who read this and caught on???????? Or is everyone just ignoring it? :rofl;

I'll consider that a compliment.

You've gotten lots of compliments lately!

I'll consider that a compliment.
Actually, I was bustin' on TSMG. But, as I say, "If the shoe fits........" :rofl;

you do not have that many choices with a 2800 stall... typically someone will run a 44/49 60/1 on a 2800 and nothing more.
But with a boost valve you could get away with the next step up, barely.

Because the ball bearing turbos spool so much easier, you can get away with more than that if you go BB.

I'm concerned about the BB's, they are new and some are failing. And you know that most cars are garage queens. Mine is a DD.... I like the tried and true 44, that would put the car in mid 11's...but I wouldn't mind dipping in the 10's...then that opens the ho cage thing....
-
According to Poston's, some have done 10's on a 44. Although, I've
never heard of anyone doing it, or what was used for a combo.
-
Don't be scared of the BB turbo's! I may get one someday.
-
Mid 11's and 10's are two completely different things...
Your not going to get 10s without hurting your motor.
11.3 yah

Yes only if I wanted to run 10's, dipping into 10's and running 10's are to different animals.

sorry doubble post err

PTE is now selling DBB turbos that are air cooled ... But it wasnt that bad runing water lines on my 2 PTE water cooled DBB turbos ... an that billet turbo is sweet it is killer on top end.
-
I did not know they had non water cooled dbb units. Progress marches on.
I still like my turbonetics 66...it is an excellent street turbo that does not need much converter....m atched up properly it gives you that linear, flat torque band that is so nice on a good turbo car.
