  • as far as mufflers go, Pypes makes some nice ones, UltraFlo's, Maxflows, or most of the staight through name brand glass and steel wrapped mufflers.  Just remember, these are not only V6's, but they have a turbo sitting up front to "chop" up the exhaust pulses so they will never sound like a small block chevy

  • Norm340:
  • Yeah That is a bit much, But I would like to think that with only 6k miles on it the rear main would be ok?

  • Steve, I had always heard a certain individual worked with a certain company to design that stuff specifically for steel shim headgaskets. It's not like I could just walk into a hardware and buy it. It's secret stuff...

  • Great info and thx again Steve......a guy up my way has a set of the steel shim ones still in the GM packaging...th us my questioning
  • August 09 2018, 08:39:55 PM
  • Steve Wood:
  • yes, they stacked two per side.  The factory ones are no longer available altho some one may have some stashed.  Until a couple of months ago, I had run one shim per side for almost 20 years for the additional compression.  As they are not available, I went to Cometic hgs

  • gusszgs:
  • Uhhhh now I see.....so you would require 4 total for a hot air if doing both sides? Forgive my ignorance on this as I've never had the pleasure of doing this....yet haha
  • August 09 2018, 06:49:13 PM
  • Steve Wood:
  • The prior hot air cars used two shims on each side but our cars had nothing but composites
  • August 09 2018, 06:45:03 PM

  • Ok thanks Steve.....I was somewhat confused cause gnttype shows a composite AND a steel part number
