The last points race of '18, a friend asked to film the car. Billy agreed.
In the 5th rd, Billy got pre-staged and staged thru the slots in his front rims. I caught it. It will not happen again. Instead of 14+ inches of rollout, he probably had 5.

It is now. I will tell him what you said.
His dad parked his gutted, primered street/strip falcon in 1979. His son, Billy drug it out of the weeds 6 yrs ago. He fired that mother up and went drag racing. Called it the 'Chicken Hawk'. It was a +.030 289, 850 dp, 4 spd, leaf sprg car. I was asked to help to get it to idle below 2200. It had a somewhat large bumpstick in it.

If anyone thinks bracket racing is easy, I suggest they go out and try it. And Sportsman Class is one of the most competitive. Once again...congra ts!

In 1500 ft air, 1.39/6.53 within +.01 sec. In 3000ft air, 1.42/6.70 varies about +.03. Not bad for a long life Bracket car on 9" rubber.

And even tougher to stay on a dial with a stick.

Not congrats to me, but i will tell him. He is quite the Billy. Not many can say that Don Gartlitts walked his wife to be down the isle.

It is a 347, C4, for I think 4 yrs now. You are certainly correct though.

The inherited 289 went 7.75 eighth and 11.77 quarter. Pump gas street motor in '79. When I got involved with it, it was going 12.6-12.7.

Yeah, when I first heard about it, I thought the 3 of them had conspired to jerk me around. When I wouldn't bite, they started talking about hemi powered antique limo's and shit.
It was all true.

You beat me. I have been by it possibly a 100 times. Never stopped because fill in the blanks. A lifelong hero of mine, donated a lot of stuff to it.

Thanks to all, for the reactions to this thread. I will relay them to the responsible party. Among other things, Billy Teeter is the mechanic, transmission builder, chassis builder, fabricator, body man, painter, driver, banker, etc. In other words, he has a lot in common with some on this board.

This is a goal that took 2 yrs. He missed the tall trophy by 2 passes (10 points) in '017. My hat is off to points racers. The track is 95 miles from his house.

I finally found a thread where I could not hijack the Original Poster's thread. Who knew?
