Title: Some asshat stole my Oldsmobile
Post by: turbobuickltd on April 30 2017, 10:45:02 PM
I had a lovely winter beater 89 'Olds 98 Regency.  Solid car (for salty Ontario) and it was extremely reliable.  That 3800 was a pillar of reliability, never let me down.  Only had 150 000 kms.  I just rebuilt the front end suspension and some asshat stole her out of my driveway last night.  She was locked and I had my Caddy blocking the end of the driveway.  Well on the bright side they didn't tear up the lawn.

Since you cannot get agreed value on a 4 door Olds in Ontario (damn gov't) I may owe the insurance company.... sarcasm!!!

That car was a great car

sooo pissed off :068:

Probably needed it to hold up the likka Stowe.
Sorry for your loss, I'm sure you could come down here and find one to replace it.

Grrr. Mobilized the troops?
No Hagerty? Don't understand why you could not get 19A clause?

Spent 2 hrs at the mto trying to cancel my plates this am. What a gong show. It is reported to the police.  Can't get hagerty on an 89 Olds 98. Too many produced according to them. Drove around auto shops and wreckers today. No luck. I am guessing the took it for $350 in scrap. Figures just got her they way I wanted and blamo.  Spent the afternoon installing motion sensing flood light.  Researching wireless camera systems.

Good Luck with finding it but if nothing else I guess it's better than losing the Buick.

Drug money maybe. Asshats broke into my shop a few years ago, all for drug money. It's that "I feel helpless" that pissed me off. I'm not a violent person but that warm and fuzzy feeling of beating the crap out of somebody was there. Sorry to hear it, why can't people just get a life with a job?

When I had my entire race rig stolen 2 years ago...this is how the insurance was gonna handle the 2004 2500 HD for payout. I had pics of when I had purchased it 8 weeks earlier. The vehicle was based on mileage and condition. It's either classed as in poor, good or above average condition. Mine was the latter...so it came out at $12,500 plus 13 percent tax added. I would assume you'd get black book plus 13 percent. Luckily I found my truck abandoned behind a bar in Hamilton 3 weeks later with minimal damage...so I had them fix it.

God himself couldn't figure out how to start this truck now.

I figure it was a scrap metal guy.  They are always in the neighbourhood, $350 in scrap is what it is.  The car really has little to no value to the insurance company.  I am installing cameras tomorrow and my front yard is as bright as a baseball diamond at night now.  Drove around to some body shops and auto repair shops in the area to no avail. Standard auto is still closed re the fire.  Will try some places in Ajax tomorrow.  Fairly certain she has been crushed by now.

Having my rig stolen was a real eye opener as to what goes on in the auto theft world. If it was kids joyriding or crackheads needing a fix, they would have grabbed the Caddy at the end of the driveway. If the Olds was rust free, I'm betting someone wanted it for the body panels for the their own Olds...and when they see the odometer reading...woul d likely pull the drivetrain. Ballsy enuf to come up in your driveway and grab it...and drive it across your lawn...so ballsy enuf to dump it behind a mall or factory stripped.

The story of my rig being stolen...the circumstances of it...and tracking it down...is almost unbelievable.

The "street sweeper" in Toronto found my car in north Scarborough.  The street sweeper is a car with cameras on the roof that reads plates on parked cars and checks if they are stolen.  It is run by Parking Enforcement in the City.

The Police Officer I spoke with said the car had no damaged, we shall see.

They are finger printing it and once they have finished I get my car back.

Picked her up this morning from the cops. Covered in finger print dust, but no prints lifted. Came with two packs of smokes (with finger print dust) and $7.35 in change on the floor.

The passenger side door lock was punched and twisted and the steering column is fucked.

Shes in my drive way and I have disabled her. Have to get some parts to get her back on the road.

Good you got it back. Did they use a big Screwdriver instead of the Key? I guess that could really make a mess of the column. SOB! :068:

My Olds was stolen again!!! Right out of the drive way again!!!.  I was watching my friends Great Dane (beautiful Dog) she went nuts barking at 140am.  Danes don't bark that often but being half asleep I did not put 2 and 2 together.  It is for the better because I would have dished out some "please don't do that" and "stop stealing my car" :068:  which would have resulted in me being locked up because you do not have an unencumbered right to defend your home or property in Canada.

This time I was able to get them on video.  A group of 4 has been breaking into homes in my area as well as the neighbouring City of Scarborough also stealing from cars as well as steeling cars.  One of the asshats wasn't covering his face.  And since I know a guy at the local police he was quickly identified.  The group was already wanted by police.  They were almost arrested 2 weeks ago in Toronto but took off on police in a stolen car reaching speeds over 200km/h (120mph).  Police in Toronto are virtually not allowed to pursue anyone or anything.  2 of them were arrested on Tuesday in Scarborough however our harsh courts in the City of Toronto will be sure to give them a stern finger wagging.  I could wallpaper my home with the print out of their criminal records.

Car was stolen Monday morning and hasn't been located yet.  I did however find a sweet 91 Ninety Eight very low kms and no rust!! for cheap.  The 91 has pass key so will not be as east to steal as the 89.

Sorry to hear this. I think you might need to come to Texas as we are able to defend unencumbered or not. Funny how those dogs are. They just seem to "know" when something is amiss.

Hope you can get the new to you one with the passkey, unfortunately, if they want it they will get it.

Wow, Sorry to hear about some asshole for stealing your ride and then coming back and steal it again, no education.

I was just talking to my wife about how our country we live in won't allow us to protect our self from harm, and our properly, like the old western times.

Forget about insuring it, just get plenty of bananas and you're set :icon_lol:

Well I found it. Was at the Canadian Tire in Scarborough on Friday buying some tools to replace what was stolen with the Oldsmobile. When I was cashing out I looked out the window and saw it. My stuff was gone. They put about 300km on it. They fried my brakes. I stripped it today and will scrap it tomorrow. Not worth my time and effort or cash to fix up for sale.

On the bright side my new to me 91 Ninety Eight is sweet!
