Assume I cannot make a bumper+ bumper support sandwich without
having stud plates inserted first?

probably not unless you've got really skinny arms and hands.  or you could fabricate a all one-piece set-up.
I prefer the plastic factory plates over their metal ones, for obvious reasons.  


I've removed the factory heavy metal shims on mine and milled some out of hard plastic to save a little weight.

probably closer to 2 lbs.  and per every lb you remove from the car equals a half second gain in the quarter.
you must not know very much bout these cars :rolleyes;

yep! i'm pretty much a expert on weight savings with our buicks :supz:
I'll share another free tip with you.  
you ever thought about how much our doors weigh :question;  :question;  :question;
and not to mention the pita of opening and closing them everytime you wanna get in the car.
