Let's Play-Which part Will Leave Me Stranded Next
« on: September 05 2015, 09:57:19 AM »
This is the constant saga of my 1994 Impala SS that constantly breaks down. Here's the list of parts I've replaced:

4 new rotors/pads
Brake lines front to back just replaced. Flex hoses inspected and given a thumbs up.
New rad
New fuel filter
New custom exhaust
K and N cold air kit
New water pump
New coil
New ignition module
New spark plugs
2 new Optisparks with the latest brand NAPA
New oil cooler line
2 new thermostats
Transmission rebuilt
New fuel pump
Digital dash rebuilt

This car spends more time on the flatbed of a CAA truck than it does on the road. Throw your guesses out there as to what leaves me stranded next. :)

Nope..already happened. I was stopped last summer at a corner here in town waiting to make a right. A lady rear ends me...while she was doing her makeup. :068:

Charging system?

Voltage is good at the back of the alternator...f or the moment. :) Starter is still turning it over. Ya' just know one or both are gonna go at any time. :) Oh...and I replaced the outer tie rods and had an alignment done.

Flat tire...

You or Larry are gonna win this. The original size tires for this car were an oddball size back then...and were discontinued by all the tire manufacturers about 3 years ago. I scrounged up a set with lots of tread...but weather checked.

Just got back from filling it up...and the gas gauge is stuck at half. When the trip odometer gets to 200 km...then I'll top it back up. There's no way in the blue hell I'm dropping the tank out of this thing. :)

Smack it with a hammer.

I had a better idea. I went outside of town...and launched it off a set of railroad tracks. Sure enuf...when it landed...the gauge jumped up to 3/4's...where I figure it should be.

So it left me stranded today again after work. Same crap as 10 months ago...engine shut off. I was able to coast it off the main street. I can't believe how calmly I sat on the curb waiting for the CAA to arrive. :) Last time it did this intermittingly ...this time it never restarted when it cooled when I dropped it at Steves shop. From now on I'm leaving the keys in it wherever I go...may even leave it running. :)
