General Buick Tech / Re: Cam sensor issue?

The bar on the inside of the gears was intact and all was connected as I seen the top of the sensor spin with cap off.

The engine was on a electric Dyno and had perfect pressure with the Drill. Then we installed the cam sensor and poof the oil pressure was non existent.

The engine has perfect pressure but with the cam sensor it has almost no oil pressure. I never ran the motor either. The cam sensor its self looks a little tired so I'm ordering a new one. It was just weird that with the cam sensor in I had almost no pressure.

General Buick Tech / Cam sensor issue?

Has anyone ever heard of a cam sensor that wouldn't spin the oil pump? How would this happen? I've seen a few threads about this issue but what would cause this in the cam sensor to not provide the drive for the pump?

That's my point I thought at first the cam was 258/258 rather then 206/206, I thought holy F**k who would put such a wild cam in a 109.

That is Comp Cams 206/206  #69-200-8 258HR

So the cam in question is in fact a 206 ?

General Buick Tech / Cam question
« on: October 18 2013, 11:00:38 PM »
I found a engine built by a local builder that has a decent Turbo Buick reputation. The motor seems to be a very good deal and has everything I want. The kicker is the cam is very radical for anything I'd want to do.
The cam is a hyd. roller .496/.496 /258/258/ Comp cams . Hyd. roller Comp lifters and a Harland Sharp roller rocker shaft system. What would a TE44 and a 10 " PTC 2800 stall be like with a cam like that? would it better to disassemble and drop in a 206/206 roller? The motor it's self is setup to run hard maybe a 10/9 second capable motor. But I want to just run in the 11's. I want this motor because it is a very good deal and I couldn't build anything close to that for the price he wants.

It can make the ignition weak if it drops low enuf.

It's important to know where the drop is and if it drops at the alternator, I would swap another alternator to see if that fixes it.  that's Easy.  IF it stays the same (goes low) then you need to get some idiot kid to ride on the back bumper with a clamp on ammeter to see if the pump is pulling the expected amperage.
Intresting maybe I should also try a new ALT b4 I throw some cash into a rebuild.

Valve springs?

But This sounds very familiar maybe a wiped cam, Also I've swapped my cam sensor with a extra brain harper had and it made no effect on anything. Some say that once you have the car running just unplug it and take a spin and that's a easy way to check. Also have you swapped your coil pack and module with him to see if maybe his module is fried. And last three things are unlikely but I've read into convertors and timing chain jumping causing a lack of rpm but if that chain jumped you would hear it, And a plugged up muffler as the baffles sometimes crumble and restrict your flow.
Also make sure that the powerlogger has good connection as the runs we did at SMP where trash after I reviewed them at home I seen that my PL wasn't getting good connection. So I took a razor and cleaned the connectors now my readings are accurate.

What can I say these cars are so Bull shit sometimes but I still love them..

Still can't get any RPM's after changing the valve springs?

I have not got the chance to do anything yet working 7 days a week currently. This question is more for all turbo Buick owners and my own curiosity.
