Title: Wheel Bearings
Post by: Just a Six? on April 18 2015, 11:05:30 AM
I'm finally going to do an oil change today before I drop the car off the jack stands I use for winter storage. I picked up some new GM Rotors & Pads about 3 years ago but no bearings included. The bearings on the car now are about 5 years old so can I be Lazy & just reuse them or any reason I shouldn't? Probably won't end up driving it for a week since I need to renew my licence plate sticker & being Late I have to do it In Person!  :013:

Shouldn't be an issue but make sure to clean and inspect them for damage. It's normal to re-use them unless there's some sort of issue.

Thanks but my plans went Way Off Base today when I started checking my 3 storage lockers for the Rotors & I must have sold or given them away?? Then I decided to throw crap into the Recycle Bin. At least a 100 lbs of metal, aluminum, wiring & general Crap not worth trying to give away! Maybe tomorrow I can get to the oil change.  I did find a new set of rear Brake parts with a new rebuild kit & some shoes!

Bearings aren't that expensive. There's no way I'd reuse an old race.

All it took was doing a bearing job a second time to convince me to spend the extra 10 minutes to replace the races.
