Starting Point For Alky?
« on: July 05 2013, 10:48:42 AM »
I've been entrusted to tune my friends 1300cc 60mm turbocharged alky injected Hayabusa. The alky is non progressive. Compression ratio is 10:1. No intercooler. I have onboard telemetry to datalog with. Dress rehearsel is tonite. Where would you guys recommend the turn on point for the alky,,,what boost level do I bring it on at. I can adjust it in one pound increments. Looking at about 80 degrees tonite with 85 percent humidity. AF...maybe start off at 9...10;1?

really don't know...bike combustion may be totally different but I would guess about 6-8 to cover my rear and if it bogged, gradually increase til it came on properly with no hesitation and the log looks good

You ain't gonna have much air so that may cover your rear a bit

You weren't far off Steve. This gentleman has smoked a couple sets of pistons in the past. Set the boost to 12 pounds and had the alky come on at 6. Slight bog off the line. Came back around and had it set it to come on at 7. Checked the plugs and they were white. Added fuel. Were we rewarded on the next run. At the top off first gear the front wheel headed to the moon. Woo Hoo! Scared the crap out of him and he let off the gas so hard that he hit his chest so hard on the tank he may have bruised some ribs. Checked the plugs and they were a nice tan colour. Coaxed him back on the bike and got him to short shift it. He could barely hold on through the eighth mile and had to let off. On board telemetry took a dump...so that`s why I had to read plugs. Gonna try and find out why the datalogger wouldn`t turn on and get a handle on the AF next time out.

He needs to lower the boost and work his way up. It's lowered with a longer swingarm...but it needs a longer one. There was a guy racing a modded Hayabusa a couple years back. It was lowered with a longer swingarm...and it went low 9's in the low 150's. Doubt it had a 60mm turbo tho...

Unknown...but I got him to disable it. I spent several hours at his place figuring out the data logger. Think I have a handle on it. Reminds me of Norbs...he loves cool guy stuff.

No luck tonite. Get to the track...bike won't start. Getting a weak crank signal...and the ECU might be fubared. Wondering if one is affecting the other. I'll update when we find out.
