General Buick Tech / Bypass wire
« on: April 02 2017, 08:18:30 PM »
Hello,
I installed a new TR6 and I'm getting a code 42 and a rapid flashing green light on run led while engine is running which indicates an open or short between the D5 ecm harness and pin B on the ignition harness tan/black bypass wire.

Well I cut the wire at the ecm and the ignition harness and ran a new wire and reset the ecm and I am having the same problem. Any ideas

Fwiw I did have this problem once before but it went away after I changed the module and coil

Thanks, yes it is an ISO file.  That's what he told me it was.  He got it installed.

Hi Mr. Steve, it's been a while.  I'm note running a MAF it's a SD2 set-up.  I need to update my signature.

No Mr. Earlbrown it is asking me to insert a blank disk to save the manual to.  But my son installed some program that allowed me to download the manual.  I had the manual on disk but lost it along with my car in the Louisiana floods of August.
I have found another car since but I have been having issue after issue.
I don't think that the entire manual downloaded because I seem to recall the manual going into more detail.   For instance I have been chasing down a code 42 issue and I have gone through the trouble shooting several times on the vortex-buick site.  I have it narrowed down to a CKT423 short,  but I thought I recalled the old manual I had on CD gave full wiring schematics.  I am going to erase the copy I have and attempt to download it again tomorrow.

Thanks

Hello,  when you download the manual can you download it to the computers hard drive or do you have to save it to a disk.  The only option I get is to save it to a disk.

Hello,  the previous owner of my car apparently cut the side of the intercooler shourd in order for the front sway bar to fit.
I have a HR Bar at and have no intentions on re-installing the front bar.

My question is besides for cosmetic reasons, will I benefit anything from fabricating something to close in the sides or finding something to close in the sides.
Thanks

Maybe the diaphragm is bad in the Servo

If I crank up my car with the vacuum line connected to servo and connect the throttle cable to the throttle body.
It will just suck in and floor the gas pedal.
Needless to say I don't have it hooked up

I just noticed that I don't have any check valves in any of my vacuum lines.
Could this be my problem.
I have always had this problem I just kept the vacuum line off the servo but the lack of a check valve may be my problem.
What do y'all think

Hello,
What causes the cruise control module to suck in as soon as vehicle is cranked whether cruise is on or not.
I didn't see this scenario in the trouble shooting on vortex Buick.
Thanks

Hi fellas,  the wideband is a Plx.
I run alky.

We didn't have a chance to tune because of the bent exhaust valve.
We just put a bunch of fuel in it initially for safety because we did all of the upgrades in the hotel parking lot.

Heads, cam, timing chain, turbo etc.

I'm pretty sure I bent the valve in the burn out box on the attempted 3rd pass.

We locked the converter for the 3rd pass but I don't have a log of that pass.

I asked Bison to chime in an maybe answer some of the questions you guys may have.

Thanks fellas.

And hi Mr. Steve
