Title: Buyer remorse Or?
Post by: $1987 GN$ on February 27 2011, 01:57:37 PM
Ok just looking for opinions, yeah I know everyone has one, that is why I am asking.

I sold some stuff to someone they gave me a check, before I even get home this person sends me an e-mail saying that he feels he was misled.

I had not checked the current price of the items in question.

I had mentioned that they were worth approximately 1400 with tax.

I sold them for 700, the boxes had been opened so I considered them used.

He sends me and e-mail saying that it was only valued at 600 excluding tax.

So I go and look the stuff up and there was a sale; but the price of the said stuff was worth 1100 at the cheapest seller and 1278 at the highest seller from the sites he sent to me.

He was basically demanding his money in return. I replied to him. I would gladly return his money. As I know that I can sell this stuff for my asked price and more if I wanted. I even offered to reduce the amount by 100 which the time it would take me to go and pick the stuff up, wear and tear on my vehicle and the time saved.

He has yet to reply to any of my e-mails . . .

(Still have his check) I am at a loss of whether I cash his check and then refund him or hold his check in hopes of him contacting me and returning my stuff; I offered to even pick it up so no loss to him. ( approximately 2.5 hours driving time, one way.)

Ok hit me AJ___

Bullshit., It's not your job to ferret out the lowest prices - as the buyer, it's his.

He made an agreement, and now wants to renege. A deal was made, money and merchandise changed hands - it's not your fault he changed his mind afterward.

Quick-cash his cheque before he can stop payment.
Negotiate later.

Agreed. I see a lot of this when I lurk on TB, its been my opine that someone is going to get fucked. You gave him time to respond, and he didnt. Cash the check, and go on with your life.

AJ, I think you've got your answer!

Fuck him. I'd be embarrassed to ask of you what he has.

Cash the check asap.  Tell him to return all that you gave him. Wait two weeks and make sure the funds clear and all parts are ok. Then return his money less 10% for your troubles.

You are a nice guy.
One less bit of drama in the Buick community is the upside, I suppose.

I'm a new member here and from what I just read, AJ, you are a real stand up guy.  It's good to see that good people are a part of this board.  I think I'll stick around for a while.  A man is only as good as his word.

Welcome,
I've always liked your screen-name, smile when I read it.
A clever play on words, could be a real name too.

I originally heard of the name Bob-Lob-Law on a show.  The guy was a lawyer.  Didn't like the lawyer part but loved the name, so I decided to seal it for my screen name.
